word is, unless something very unforeseen happens, there will only be 2 signings in Nov. The other 2 will be held to Spring. Don't assume the Spring holds will mean that T Black will be one. One, more likely than not, will be a JOCO.
I think we've been planning for a Juco all along. It's fine, as long as they aren't both Jucos.
Ok, let's all speculate, then, on the second November signing.

Wouldn't it just be jones and blue?

Jones and Blue?
Yes Jamail Jones and Vander Blue.
Wouldn't you rather have a black and blue jones, rather than just a blue jones?
A two-year JUCO rounds out the recruiting classes. That and a freshman would be just fine by me.

Exactly.
With a two year JUCO and a freshman with Junior redshirting the scholies look like 3-3-3-4. If he doesn't red shirt it would be 3-3-4-3.
That looks good to me.
the signs are Jones and Blue. The BB staff, as with all recruiting, is not even hinting as who the Spring signs may be.
Isn't this info best saved for the Premium Board?

Took the words right out of my mouth.
Is the "Source" saying we have two in the bag for spring, or just 2 in November leaves two, and if not signing now then it swill be spring withe SOMEONE but we don't know who. Are they claimning they KNOW who in the spring, or they know nothing except we will have two schollies left?
Blue and Jones are signing in November and the other two ships are still up in the air. Highly doubt we would bank them both, but we could bank one and use the other for the best talent we can get whether from Juco or high school. The last thing we should do is "reach" twice.
If we have to reach once, I like the Juco route as we would only tie up the scholarship for two years rather than four.
I'm surprised there hasn't been a domino effect that benefited this incoming class since Blue committed. With two top 60 recruits, wouldn't that help our case w/ some top guys on the fence?
All the big boys worth recruiting are usually being recruited by teams with just as impressive rosters/recruiting classes. Buzz needs to find his first true low post stud.
Buzz has said he will never turn down a good player, so even if there is a JUCO signing this fall that does not mean he wont take 1 or even 2 players in the spring. He doesnt seem to have a problem oversigning -- in his words, "it always seems to work itself out."

It's been a whole 10 days since Blue announced his verbal.

As quickly as you can, grasp the pebble from my hand. Errr......how about two out of three? ;D
Personally, I'd love to see Buzz get his hands on a guy like Black or Walker (Asparilla would fantastic too) and then round out this recruiting class with a JUCO PG to back up Cadougan.
There are plenty of talented PG's in the JUCO ranks and that way we'd have a "veteran" (of sorts) to come off the bench in relief of our young guards...
But I agree, the biggest need is a quality BIG to round this sucker out and make us legitimate contenders come March of '11 and '12...
No offense, but, one month ago you posted this:
MUScoop / Hangin' at the Al / Any one else on: October 02, 2009, 04:04:57 PM concerned about the total lack of information about recruiting. Other boards, sites etc. seem to have information but MU is very silent. TOOOOO silent for me. Are we in trouble? or what ? Are we going to be disappointed in November? Remember signing day is only about 6 weeks away. Now you have a source that is telling you that there will be only 2 signings in Nov and 2 in the spring with one being a Juco? How did you go from having no information to telling us the future? I'm just wondering...

I don't think we'll need a back-up point guard. Next year we'll have Junior, Blue and Buycks all whom can run the point.

Agreed. We need a long PF as well as a shooter or a 5 depending how Otule and Mbao progress in the months ahead.

yeah but of all of those, i would say only junior is a true PG. it's good to have a guy come off the bench who is purely a distributor and ball-handler. that being said, there are more pressing needs.
I'd rather play someone who isn't a "100% true point guard" but has talent. With Butler, Jones, Maymon, Fulce, Williams, and anyone who fills the two open slots, and maybe some minutes in a small lineup for Blue/DJO/Buycks, the 3-4 are covered. You have 80 minutes per game to give at the point and 2. If Cadougan's healthy he would be good for 25+, Blue could be good enough to get 30+, Buycks as a senior and a healthy DJO with this year to get experience could get 20+ each. If it boils down to a Juco junior or 2-star freshman to have a "true" point guard, give me Blue or Buycks at the point instead rather than limiting their time on the floor for lesser talent. If there aren't any injuries, any new 2010 guard would have to get redshirted. A pure shooter might be the exception, but they would still be getting maybe 5 minutes per game.
