Still has us with Clark, but that shouldnt drop us too much either way.
11. Marquette
2010 commits (National rank)
PG Vander Blue (22)
SF Jamail Jones (65)
C Monterale Clark
Coach Buzz Williams is bringing in the pieces for another high-powered backcourt. Blue, a five-star prospect, is considered one of the best combo guards in the country because of his skilled and physical play. Jones is a big-bodied wing who can do damage inside and outside. Clark, who has played well in the junior college ranks, brings legitimate size to Marquette.
Current Top 10:
1. Ohio St.
2. Memphis - guess they're still doing ok
3. Syracuse
4. NC State
5. UNC
6. Wake Fotest
7. Illinois
8. Standford
9. Virginia
10 South Carolina
Not exactly the classic look of the top 10 the past few years, so you gotta assume this is likely to change as KU, Kentucky, Duke, finish their classes off...but that Ohio St class looks like a beast. Nice to see we're in at least.
What's the deal with Clark? Is he still coming to MU?
Marquette is not allowed to comment on the situation because Clark is not signed with MU. Most of the boards that i have seen has him coming to Marquette, but my gut feeling is that he will not be due to his situation.
Clark will never be in a MU uniform. I mean, he basically admitted to rape and my guess isn't even attending classes now so he's not even going to qualify.

We could really use a player who can take it to the hole. But, it won't be Clark.

The whole M. Clark situation is really unfortunate, not only did he rape a girl and destroy two lives but on a much less important stage he looked like he has become one hell of a player. rivals and scout have obviously never seen him play and his rated would only be a drag to the rankings. But the big picture really was what could he have done to help Mu win titles?
In reading the espn rankings where thay have actually seen him play...they have him rated higher than any player in our freshman class and the report on him is pretty glowing. All out of a 6'10" kid would have been awesome for this kid to come and contribute. its a real shame. I cannot see anyway possible that this kid ever plays at MU, Katz even alluded to that in his article something along the lines that "although Mu coaches cannot comment i was given every indication that he will never be at MU"
Looks like he was the big stud 4 we were all hoping for. Regardless of where rivals had him.
where did rivals have Jimmy Butler and Mbao?

That's the big picture? I don't think the lost basketball talent for MU is the takeaway from this situation.
reading comprehension son. I was speaking of the rankings and stated big picture only in reagrds to rankings meaning "who cares where he ranks how good is he".
My first sentence... that clearly sailed right over you head was..."The whole M. Clark situation is really unfortunate, not only did he rape a girl and destroy two lives but on a much less important stage he looked like he has become one hell of a player."
run along now your oatmeal is getting cold.
I probably did misread the first sentence, but I think at this point it's worthless lamenting the loss of his basketball services given the pot of hot water he's in.
Also, bma has indicated recently that ESPN's ratings are wildly inconsistent even within themselves for the moment. I don't think rivals or scout rank jucos, so I'm not sure there are any useful takeaways from them.
Lastly, when have you ever found condescension useful as a conversation tactic?

Scout does rank JUCOs...but its a very inexact science. Alot of times the site knows nothing about the player so it will either place a random star ranking on them (like a standard 2 or 3) or not even list them as commits (like they did for Butler, Fulce is a 3 star)
However, they do a much better job with football JUCOs across the board. One kinda feels that the only reason they even attempt to put a star ranking on BBall JUCOs is to keep up appearances that they pay equal attention (somehow) to both FBall and BBall.
Same kind of thing at Rivals too

i agree it is worthless lamenting his loss...just as it is worthless for badger fans to lament the loss of vander blue...but go to their board and check it out, it is human instint.
it's ironic and unforunate that we all are pining for a big time power forward adn while the source is debabtable ...although it is the same source that gave glowing reports on jones and blue...the source gave him a glowing report and a ranking that would place him in the top 75 players in the country
and he was our until he did such a terrible thing.
heck i still lament the loss of Joe wolf, bill hanzlik, reece Gaines, ODb...i guess iam worthless :'(
Add Aguirre, the McCrays, Rod Foster, and Ernie Grunfeld as well.
Forget about Clark. The simple fact that his name was involved in such a thing (whether he was physically involved or not) should deem him unworthy.......esp. for a JuCo transfer.
Further, I don't care how good he is. If the allegations are true I think it's in everyone's best interest that Buzz does not continue to extend the offer. I'm ok with all of the latest JuCo transfers (esp. due to the whole situation that he stepped into last year), but if Buzz does not retract the offer to Clark I will immediately question the direction that he is taking this program.

Correct.
But Goodman had said that MU staffers said - privately - Clark will not attend MU.

dont get me wrong go back to the day the news story broke. I clearly stated Buzz should give him the courtesy of one more phone call to say 'youre done". my guess is the people that are thinking there is possibly maybe an outside small chance no matter how small if things break the right way chance that Mu is still interested have apparently not read the police transcript. Given the other suspects and even clarks testimony the guy is not only done as a basketball player but doen as a free man fro either a long time or a real long time depending on whos testimony the jury beleives, either way he is a convicted felon in short order.
buzz cannot say mu is no longer offering or involved due to ncaa rules. hopefully his silence does not make people imply that we might still be considering him. almost makes you wonder if the ncaa punishment would be worth it for Buzz to just issue a statement that way we dont have to still be linked with him.
