I'm pretty sure he was.
I don't recall seeing him though. Someone else may have been able to get visual conformation.

I know he cancelled the Kansas event, which is a good sign for us. I think he'll be heading to Duke or UNC if I had my guess. His dad played college ball at a big ACC school if I'm not mistaken. Blue is a huge get, but if we got this kid the Blue signing would pale in comparison.
----According to ESPN.com's Kansas affiliate www.TheShiver.com, ESPNU Terrific 25 forward J.P. Tokoto will be unable to attend the Jayhawks' "Late Night in the Phog" event on Friday (Oct. 16).
The sophomore standout has two tests at his high school today and cannot miss them, his AAU coach told the site.
The Jayhawks staff will still have some high profile prospects on hand to kick off the the 2009-10 season.---
Unlikely that we get JP but Blue certainly doesn't "pale in comparison" to him.
JP is very highly thought of now but he has a long way to go before he gets to college.
Evan Anderson was a top 10 kid as a Sophmore too and now barely cracks the top 100 on most sites.

Yeah, I read that. He's going to a game instead some time during the season.
I like the fact that he took the tests that day instead of the "I'll take them later" which is more of the norm.
It's going to be a tough get for Buzz. I think MU has a nice little niche over here in Milwaukee and if MU is something J.P. wants and feels is good for him come on over; if not, I understand as well.
Either way I'm excited to check him out on cold Friday nights MU doesn't play.
think IWB said he WAS NOT there.

That was also written the 14th, before he wasn't able to make it down on the 16th. Show me on IWB after the fact where it said he wasn't there.

Rosiak's post-MM wrapup (http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/64660832.html)
QuoteRecruiting watch: There were 30 recruits in attendance in all, but five biggies:
Madison Memorial guard Vander Blue, who took in the evening's festivities dressed head to toe in MU garb. He was one of the final few to leave the Al McGuire Center court, as he spent time shooting around and dunking on his own.
Memphis power forward Tarik Black, who, according to more than one source was dominating in an open gym session earlier in the day.
Branden Dawson, a junior wing from Lew Wallace High School in Gary, Ind.
Keaton Miles, a junior wing from Dallas Lincoln.
Jamail Jones, a senior wing from Montverde (Fla.) Academy who, of course, committed to MU in mid-August.
My assumption is that Rosiak wouldn't have missed JP if he were in attendance, but I could be wrong.

Doesn't surprise me. I read in an article, that I think was posted here, that his parents are trying to keep him well grounded throughout this entire process. For instance, he has to help his siblings with their homework, etc.

Jamil Wilson is another example. He was considered a top level prospect as a freshman, and he still was a great prospect, but he dropped over time. There is a lot of growing and development that J.P. has to go through yet.

If JP is offered and accepts at UNC or Duke, he'll rise in the rankings.
How do you go up from being ranked 1 at your position?

To a higher overall ranking I am guessing. (Not just at your position.)

Two things:
1) I probably should have used teal because I was commenting more on how rankings are influenced by who you sign with than on Tokoto specifically.
2) PBRme is right -- he could go up in the overall rankings, and he could go up in other rankings aside from Scout who has him at number one at his position.
Interestingly, UNC fans have also been complaining lately that some of their recruits seem to drop in rankings after signing with them while dook's recruits go up..... maybe its because Dookie V can't hide his love affair for all things related to dook and K.

Can you say Flavien Davis....
or Marquis Mason...or Kyle Kelm... etc. etc. etc.
Continuing the current discussion regarding Tokoto, I have to agree that he is too young to peg what kind of player he will be by the time he is a senior. I remember Flavien being projected as a top10 overall by espn after his freshman year, and he had MU on his list (as Crean was on him hard) so naturally people were getting fired up about his possible committment. He is still a nice player(top100), but has dropped consistently with each year since and who knows where he will be after this season. He may have peaked early. Also, Evan Anderson was a top 10-20 overall recruit about 2 years ago. Same story. Has dropped considerably since and may not even crack the top100 after this year. That being said, lets wait a year or so before we start going crazy over JP. I'm sure Buzz is working on his recruitment as we speak, but alot can happen before his freshman year of college.
