I think it's fair to post the list here...
Jamail Jones - 6'6 Wing from Montverde Academy via Stone Mountain, GA (Verbally committed to Marquette) (Unofficial Visit) (2010)
Tarik Black - 6'8 PF from Ridgeway High School in Memphis, TN (Official visit) (2010)
Vander Blue - 6'4 Guard from Madison Memorial in Madison, WI (Official Visit) (2010)
Branden Dawson - 6'5 Wing from Lew Wallace High School in Gary, IN - (Unofficial Visit) (2011)
Keaton Miles - 6'6 forward from Dallas Lincoln in Dallas, TX (Unofficial Visit) (2011)
Kyle Anderson - from Newark High School in Newark, IL - (Unofficial Visit) (2011)
:D
Looks like a good list.

For the event, paint your jones, black and blue. ;D
How good is that? Close the deal Buzz....
wow, talk about nice recruits
Sweet! ;D
IWB states he "believes", so I am hoping. If Buzz gets them on campus for MM, then that alone is exciting and a plus.
Black and Blue (that does sound nice) are great, but that Branden Dawson from Gary, IN is a five star stud machine...
Buzz has lost alot of recruits recently going elsewhere, if he can get 2 or 3 of these kids to commit, it could be a program changer.
I think the only way he loses all of them is to show up on an ATV wearing a karate outfit.

Tarik Black and Blue on board and we have a top 5 class. Couple that with a top 10 class from last year and MU will contend for BE titles and NCAA final fours in a year or so.
Just a question. Does UW-Madison have a Midnight Madness event?
I am trying to read between the lines here.

I'm hoping that was sarcasm from Chico's, they've definitely had MM in the past. Besides, Vander had already planned an official visit to UW after our Madness but before LOI day. So there's no need to go there twice in a few weeks.
Where's Rosiak on this? Thought he was the MU b-ball beat writer...one would think he'd be all over this, considering right now there are not yet any games to talk about.

I was there in 2002 - State Street was tear gassed and looked like a riot, had some buddies in one of the larger frats and that party sucked hard.
I happened to be there for work a couple years ago so I stayed with some buddies that live in Madison and they wouldn't let me cross through State Street without a ticket. I wasn't drunk nor even in a costume, just wanted to get to the other side.

you can thank the city council at least as much as Mayor Dave.
I can tell you that back in the early 80's, the only place that rivaled Mad-town on Halloween was Southern Illinois. Both too much fun at Halloween...
For anyone going to Madison for Halloween, EAT has an open invite for any MU student or alum each year to hang out and dry out at his crib afterwards if you've had too much to drink. Just bring your own bucket and mop to clean up your mess.

I know, but my point was more former notable Badger athletes getting into trouble at major Madison street parties.
But more importantly, I am pumped to see Tarik Black on that list. He would be a REALLY nice get. And another prime example of one of those recruits where MU doesnt appear on his Scout or ESPN list, but we are still very much in the game.

As stated many times...Do not pay attention to the "lists" on Scout/Rivals/ESPN. All of these sites have good content, but, the lists are often the last thing to get updated...and thus, are very out of date.

I was more pointing it out because too many people get disheartened when we are not on these lists and start worrying about "all our top prospects going elsewhere". I am pretty much at ease about the whole situation and am confident this class will fill out well as opposed to when we lost Shumpert a few years back and I was crushed.

So he's going to our MM, where he'll be enticed to join a team that fits his style of play at a school that lives and dies with its basketball team. He can't go to UW's Midnight Madness because football and hockey make basketball irrelevent until March since the basketball team is too boring to watch.

The fun is correlated directly with whether or not you were beaten badly by a Badger football player. More fun equals less beatings and vice versa.

UC Santa Barbara and Ohio University during Halloween were also major events....and the UCSB babes never disappointed.
Chapel Hill annually has 60-80,000 people descend on Franklin St from schools all over the SE. They come from as far away as UVA and you have to see it to believe it.

I left 2040s for my 10:00 class at 9:40 and saw Fulce walking out of Broken Yolk (where they all eat a ton) and thought it'd be cool to run into Blue. Sure enough The rest of the team walks out with Buzz, and Buzz took Blue and Maymon to check out 2040s. Buzz asked how I was doing on my way by.
I'm liking it more and more. Back in the day Chones and Lackey lived at the Catholic Knights building.

You might want to talk to the basketball office to see if this is allowed. Duke's compliance office posted this on their boards a few weeks back and we don't want to jeopardize our position with a potential recruit.
QuoteA message from Duke Compliance
We wanted to offer a little more information about NCAA rules related to prospects on campus for official and unofficial visits. In general, the NCAA prohibits all public recruiting. To that end, coaches (and other staff members) are not allowed to comment, twitter, etc. publicly about a prospect until after the prospect officially signs with an institution.
In addition, an institution may not publicize or arrange the publicity of a prospect's visit to its campus. This extends to signs and other public displays around campus, even if no one from the athletic department is involved in the creation of the displays.
We understand that such displays are often done with the best of intentions, and we appreciate the tremendous support of our students and fans. If you are a student, you are welcome to introduce yourself to and have conversations with potential student-athletes on campus, just as you would with other prospective students visiting Duke. However, we ask you to refrain from creating or inviting publicity for any prospective student-athlete on campus. This includes signs, t-shirts, chants, and other similar displays.
Please feel free to contact the Compliance Office at compliance@duaa.duke.edu if you have questions about these or any other NCAA rules. Thank you for your support of Duke Athletics.

I mean I want Vander to committ to Mu as much as the next person, but facebook stalking this 17 year old kid is a little creepy.
My only question is why are they checking out 2040? The entire team has lived in Humphrey for quite a few years now and I can't really see them changing from that. 2040 isn't university housing and with the number of open rooms Humphrey has had the past few years I'd be surprised if the University allowed a move. Unless the boys want to pay for their own housing that is. I know a few volleyball players that used to live in St. James so maybe if they really wanted to be in a different building, I guess. Who knows.

I was wondering the same thing, but Broken Yolk is attached to 2040s, so maybe they were just checking it out since they were already there. I've seen O'Tule leaving and entering 2040s before so maybe Buzz is just showing him different places that MU students live.

He'll be there, I'm told. Hard to think it means a ton at this point, but it certainly can't hurt.
The key is Blue. When he commits, MU will be a major player in the recruiting game. It will define Buzz's tenure. That's something Crean never was able to do.
I think one name being overlooked is Branden Dawson. I believe that I've read he's been to both Elite Camps and now coming to Madness. He's a 5 star recruit and sounds like a stud. That'd be a huge if we were in really good on him. I've read everywhere that he's a Purdue lean.
Blue would be the key to this class, but getting a guy like Black to go with would be awesome. From everything i read he seems like the perfect 4 man thats athletic and not afraid to grab some rebounds. With Blue, Black, and Jones. In a class that would probably be the dream scenario at this point. Which isnt really to unrealistic.
Rivals is reporting that Tokoto will be at MU tonight based on lower travel expense and convenience, FWIW.
I haven't read the whole thing but I think one thing that's being missed here is Keaton Miles. Look at where he's coming from, and then remember that this is an unofficial visit so he's paying his own way. That says quite a lot when a kid wants to come from that sort of distance. Remember, that's the same kind of thing Erik Williams did his junior year, and he ended up committing before leaving. Not saying it will happen here, but you never know.
Miles, btw, is ranked #43 on Rivals, #67 on ESPN, and just outside the Top 75 on scout.
