Title: DJO Injury?
Post by: g0lden3agle on September 16, 2009, 09:22:44 AM
I could have sworn I just saw DJO walking around campus with a boot on and carrying, but not using, crutches.  Can anyone confirm and/or expand upon this?

If true, better now than in December.

standard procedure for turned ankles anymore is the walking boot.  may not be anymore than that ...Wes wore one most of last year.

Yeah.  If you saw Shaq Vs. last night, it started off with Michael Phelps in a walking boot as a precautionary measure.
Is there anything Shaq can't teach us?

Shaq is great, very entertaining.  I catch myself watching it every week although I did miss the end; how'd the race go?

Shaq taught me to subside on a diet of Crunch bars and Whoppers.  Also, to treat all injuries with the IcyHot Back Patch.

Turn out Shaq stole the idea for the show from Steve Nash. I believe there was a lawsuit. http://nba.fanhouse.com/2009/08/20/shaq-might-have-stolen-his-reality-tv-idea-from-exec-producer-s/

The show would be awful with Steve Nash.  The Big Diesel is perfect for this show.

It was Nash's idea to have Shaq do the competitions.  It never got as far as a lawsuit.  As a compromise, Nash is listed as an executive producer on the show.

So, we're chalking this up to DJO is OK, just being cautious.

Nash was entertaining in the Vitamin Water commercials he's done.  But isn't the personality that Shaq is.  The first 10 minutes of the show with him riding into Baltimore were evidence enough.

In one of the Clark threads people are mentioning DJO is out for a month, hopefully its not more severe than that.

Rosiak said he will probably be out until after madness.  I was looking forward to seeing him play on October 16th!

Remember the foot problems we had last year?  Is this the same type of injury?

You'd like techno if you had robot ears.

Well at least this injury happened early enough that it won't cause him to miss any games.  Plus he did get a full summer of workouts in with the team, so hopefully he won't fall as far behind as Otule and Fulce did last year.

How did the injury happen?  It says a workout, but any more information on that?  It is his ankle?  Bone spur?  etc?

It's his foot.

in the gomarquette.com interview it sounds like he's taking it in stride and he's progressing nicely.  If he's back shortly after team practices officially start, I think he'll be just fine. I would bet he's still hitting the weights he can hard and will do his best to keep in condition.  As others have said, better now than in December.

I have a friend who couldn't confirm which player it was, but he swears that he heard players talking like one of them needed achilles surgery tomorrow.  Can anyone confirm? Is DJO worse than thought?

Again, Buzz never mentioned anything about his Achilles tendon, just tendowns ont he side of the ankles - one ahd pulled away - he said this is not a season-ending injury.  Achilles tendon surgery is serious and would take months to recover from, and could have permanent issues depending on the severity of the tear, etc.

Hope this is not the case.

as I said in the other thread, even without surgery it is serious.

copying my other post to make this one the consensus "DJO Injury" thread...

A very close friend witnessed a player talking with other players tonight, and surgery was specifically mentioned, as if it was a very recent development.
