I was at MU today, moving my freshman daughter into her dorm. In a trip through the Alumni Memorial Union I spoke with a person very close and well connected to the men's program. When I asked about the game penalty that Mbao would serve he said, "at least two games but no more than eight." Again, this was a realiable source. So, we are looking at no more than eight games for the big guy.
Thanks - hope it's two - if he's out 8 will be tougher like it was for Otule last year missing all the mon-conf games. Well, here's to two or fewer!

Obviously two would be better, but Otule was hurt, so he wasn't even able to practice at all...if Mbao is only missing games he should not be hindered near as much as Otule was by the time missed due to the injury.

Good point. And whether it's two or eight, Mbao will get some minutes this year. Otule is not going to be playing 30 mpg, and I just don't see Hayward or Erik Williams being stuck at the 5 for more than half the game. Way too much of a hole to not try plugging a 7'2" guy into.
Hopefully he's back for the Wisconsin game so can swat about six Badger attempts into the fifth row.

If Buzz & team are coaching him right, he won't swat any into the stands.

Ah right - I was overlooking that - thanks for the reminder - I hope Mbao develops quickly - I stood next to him at the Banquet and omg is he big. :) Going to be nice to see him in an MU uni!

Nah, if they're coaching him right he'll be able to pick out people in the stands to swat them at. I figure 5 should be enough. One at Ryan, one at Badgermaniac, one at Swenson, one at Fran....and then another one at Ryan just for fun.
+1,000
Mbao is crazy tall but hopefully he can put on a few pounds. His body reminded me of a taller Blackledge. Last year at the men's basketball banquet Todd Smith was already showing him what to eat!
Can we invite Hanson to campus and have them sing "MBao". Almost works as well as "We got Tha Beet"

I actually LOL'd at that one. If he is a surprise talent I'll be the happiest dude in wyoming/colorado...woo wee
(I'll be the happiest anyway once the season starts)
Was Todd Smith doing his best Dr. Nick impression on advising Mbao on what to eat?
"Now there are many options available for dangerously underweighted individuals like yourself. I recommend a slow steady gorging process combined with assal horizontology."
"You'll want to focus on the neglected food groups such as the whipped group, the congealed group and the chocotastic!"
"Well...be creative. Instead of making sandwiches with bread, use poptarts. Instead of chewing gum, chew bacon, ..."
"And remember, if you're not sure about something, rub it against a piece of paper. If the paper turns clear, it's your window to weight gain."
