MILWAUKEE - Marquette's all-time leading scorer Krystal Ellis will continue her basketball career, playing professionally in Greece's A-1 league, beginning in August.
Ellis has joined head coach Marios Despotakis and the FEA Neas Filadelfias and the Neas Halkidonas in Athens, Greece. Ellis will be joined on the Halkidonas by fellow American Johanna Solverson, formerly of the University of Iowa. Ellis is scheduled to return to the United States in late April.
The FEA Neas Halkidonas was founded in 2008. In 2009, the Halkidonas claimed the Greek A2 South Championship. the 2009-2010 season will mark FEA Neas's first season in the Greek A-1 league.
Ellis, a two-time All-BIG EAST First Team selection and Associated Press honorable mention All-American, finished her career near the top of various all-time statistical categories including field goals made (669, 3rd) and trays made (214, 2nd), and is the only player in program history to record over 1,800 points, 350 assists and 200 steals.
She'll make more money in Greece, but if I were here I'd try to make the WNBA. Chicago Sky would be lucky to have her on their team. She can always go to Greece later.
Great for Krystal, but...
What's more uninteresting than the NBA?
Women's basketball in Europe.
