Mike Van Sickle made the cut at the US Amateur yesterday and has moved on to match play today at Southern Hills. You can watch coverage on the golf channel right now.
He's 2 up through 8 right now!

5 up through 11. Should lock it up soon here.
Wins 6 and 4. For you non-golf fans, thats destruction in match play.
AKA, ass-whoopin'
Tees off today at 9:50 CDT against Trent Whitekiller in the Round of 32:
Scores are available here:

Whitekiller is from Oklahoma so may have some familiarity with the course. Not too mention, his name is somewhat intimidating.
TV coverage starts at noon today on the Golf Channel.
Looks like another good day!!!!
3 up after 3 holes! Hopefully he can keep this up :)

4 up through 4. Good grief, he is killing this guy also. When you are on, you are on.....
6 up through 7! Just looked at the "Match Play Tree" (aka "bracket") - the guy he is playing is the 6 seed in the tournament (Van Sickle is #27) - huge round for him so far.
6 up through 7 holes is destruction again. His ranking was based upon two round stroke play which seeded them. Match play an entire different game and Van Sickle can intimidate an opponent with his length. Usually by this time in the tournament, the matches are close, but this is unreal in the National Amateur.
Hopefully not blowing his wad in these two matches, but keep it going.
6 up after ten. A win on 11 and match would go dormie. Whitekiller is struggling.
7 up after 11.
MVS is -3 for the day, Whitekiller is +4.
Ouch.
If he halves #12 he wins 7 & 6 and can get a nice break before his afternoon match starts
Crap. MVS makes bogey on 12, Whitekiller pars. 6 up with 6 to play.

MVS wins 6&5. Impressive :)
He'll be playing the winner of this match (http://www.usamateur.org/scoring/nml/match/0216.html) next. The gentleman from Korea, Byeong-Hun An, is up 3 with 5 left to play.
he may be up 3 on his opponent, but he is 2 over for the round. MVS plays like he did this morning, he should destroy him.
Van Sickle was sporting a white, MU Nike zip-up golf polo shirt today. Very nice!!!!
He will indeed face off with Byeong-Hun An. The tee-time is set for 2:25 local time (central) this afternoon, however I do not think any of their match will be on tv as the golf channel coverage ends at 2.
Here is the tv coverage for the rest of the tourney, should MVS continue to advance:
Date Network Program Broadcast Hours (EDT)
Friday (Aug. 28) Golf Channel Quarterfinals 1-3 p.m.
Saturday (Aug. 29) NBC Semifinals 4-6 p.m.
Sunday (Aug. 30) NBC Final 4-6 p.m.
Whitekiller....great name for a golfer ;)
All Square thru 9 this afternoon
Back to AS thru 12.
Mike needs to start making some birdies.
MVS birdies 17 to bring it back to all square....ONIONS!!
They both bogied the 18th
Bummer....lost in the 2nd playoff hole. MVS double bogies and the other guy bogeyed to win.
Van Sickle just wrapped up his first round of the first stage of qualifying - he finished at +1. A bit of work to do the next three days to make the second round of qualifying.
