Title: Marquette at State Fair
Post by: pillardean on August 08, 2009, 10:45:09 AM
I was working at the State Fair the past two days and noticed a lot of MU bags and little MU stickers on kids faces and stuff.

I asked one of the parents where all the MU stuff came from and I guess they have a stand in the Wisconsin Building.

The parent told me that it was an "excellent" set-up.  Kids got to play games and they were giving away some prizes while also giving away information to the parents.

Just an FYI if any of you were heading to state fair to check it out.  Current students-for the most part- work it, and I heard some good things from parents.  Also, the kids looked like they had fun (wearing the stickers and some t-shirts from the stand).

MU was there last year as well. Had a pop-a-shot set up with some of the cardboard cutouts of the players and Dwyane Wade's shoe size. They spelt Dwyane wrong and I had to correct them on it. Last year the bird was present as well although this year I don't think he'll be making any appearances.

spelled. W/e. better to be correct when it is the name of one of the most popular players in the NBA and a man associated with our school than on an internet message board.

MU has been at the State Fair every year for a good 5-6 years.  Crean usually showed up for an autograph signing.  It was quite a hit .. they should have Buzz do that too, especially since he's still got that new car smell on him.

Would that be Southern Sweet Tea or Texas Mesquite BBQ?

Longer than that, we were there during my time which goes back 10+ years

Yeah, and I remember you telling me that before too.  Forgot.

One reason?  Until Crean starting going, there was no "event reason" to show up.  I doubt I ever visited the MU stall until then.

That's why it's a good idea for MU to do it with Buzz:

1. Schedule a date for Buzz to go to the State Fair
2. Publicize it w/email, press release, etc.
3. ????
4. Profit!
