I may have missed this, but did Junior get his stuff through the Clearinghouse in time to enroll at summer school? Is he on campus playing with the rest of the team?
You posted in the last thread on the matter. There hasn't been anything else on the forums saying that anything has changed, of course that was only 12 days ago.

It's tough to know for sure though since Todd Rosiak is on vacation. The team may be called the Gold again for all we know.
Not yet.
OK, thanks. I didn't recall reading that his situation had changed. That's a shame. Too bad he's not on-campus getting a head start both in the classroom and on the basketball court.
Neither Junior or Yous are on campus.
I fear this may turn into what happened to Lazar. We can handle Yous missing some time...but Junior needs to be here ASAP.
The problem is that the clearinghouse staff (which is probably way under-staffed) has mountains of transcripts to review for football and other fall sports. BB (and foreign players) takes a back seat in this process. As with Lazar and Trevor, these guys probably will not be cleared until October?
can they practice with the team if they are not cleared? or can they just not take classes?
Does anyone know if the clearinghouse is understaffed?
Seriously I feel like these same FACTS have been discussed ad nauseum. They cannot practice, take classes, or do anything with the team until they are cleared.

I think a player can enroll in classes before he gets cleared, he just can't participate in official team activities. Lazar was in school before he was cleared, but he could only play in "open gym" sessions at the Rec Center (nothing at the Al). But that wouldn't explain why Junior or Yous aren't on campus taking classes yet.

Lazar did that once the fall semester started, but I don't recall him doing it during the summer. Additionally, he had to pay tuition like a normal student until he was cleared, and I don't think either Junior or Yous could afford that. Plus, they are going through an additional step that Lazar did not have to go through with the foreign review...and then Yous has the amateurism issue after the clearinghouse gets done with him.
The longer AC gets held up, the more we miss Acker.

Bingo. I have no clue how any of this is funded; however, enough is made off of these kids, and they're under a big enough microscope, that I don't see a reason they shouldn't get first class treatment and a speedy process - especially in the area of academics.
It seems like universities should be able to clear a player and then live with the risk of penalty if it is later found the player is ineligible or if they gave him free classes and he can't play for them. I suppose it complicated well beyond that...
Wow, I thought my response was dripping with enough sarcasm that even the teal wouldn't have been needed.
