Poll
Question:
Given that Wade's "jersey" is being retired on Saturday, but not his number, which freshman will choose to wear it?
Option 1: Mbakwe
Option 2: Hazel
Option 3: Saunders
Option 4: Christopherson
Option 5: Lazar will trade in his #32
Option 6: Marquette has learned their lesson
Option 7: This is a really stupid poll and I'm not participating
If you selected "This is a really stupid poll and I'm not participating," you actually participated.
Yes I'm aware that I have the sense of humor of a third grader.
Actually, I think DW understands that the number isn't actually retired ;)

Wow. A Rush reference. Nicely done.
this retiring jerseys bs? In reality all player's jerseys are retired every year since there are new jerseys and designs each season. If you're going to honor the player then you have to retire his number.
#3 has to be earned. This would have to be a steal from a Top 5 team
Just a tremendous post...
Query...How many other times have one of MU's other #s been handed out?
Answer...Zero
The bigger issue is not what GT thinks about it b/c from what I hear he had to be prodded to talk, it's what do some very significant people at B&S think? From what I understand MU has made some serious enemies at one of MKE's biggest companies.
Man, you'd have to have the biggest stones in the world to come to Marquette and even think about asking for #3.
You also better have the talent because like it or not, people will make comparisons.
maybe it becomes something like #1 for Michigan WR?
who knows. or the captain gets it.

This implies that your sights are so low that you never expect more than 35 or so players ever worthy of honor.

Do you know this as fact, or is it merely conjecture?
Have co-ops had their job offers pulled? Has there been evidence of reductions in corporate giving?
And why would B&S get involved at a corporate level with an employee's non-work-related grievence anyway? If they've supported MU in the past because for good corporate reasons, does it really make sense that George Thompsons' grudge become more important?
Given the number of MU alums in the area, are they really willing to take a chance with their community relations by pulling support for MU or not hiring future grads?
