Wes turned in his best performance so far against the magic
http://www.nba.com/media/magic/utaorl_boxscore_070909.pdf
Wes came off the bench but played 22:51min
Totals: 15pts, 6-10fg, 0-1 3pt, 3-3ft, 3 boards,2 assists, 2 steals, 3 fouls and 1 TO
Again his best performance so far and hopefully this is just the start for him.
Great job by Wes! Hopefully he's feeling his comfort zone and this is an indication of things to come! He played the second most minutes on the team behind Suton.
Honestly though, what percentage to put on Wes making it in the NBA. I'd say 1%, he's fighting for, IMO, the toughest spot (2/3) in the NBA.
I look forward to him running for Governor in 2024.
Good for Wes! I hope he turns it on for the remaining games!
I watched the 4th quarter online yesterday and Wes looked like the 3rd best player on the floor behind someone from the Magic (name escapes me) and Derrick Brown (Xavier).
However, one thing that has not been written here is that he went down hard with what looked like a sprained ankle at the end of the game. The commentators (who are awful, by the way) kept saying that "this isn't what you like to see; Summer League is for guys like Wes who are fighting for a chance to realize their dreams of making an NBA roster"
After a few minutes Wes did walk off the court, but he was definitely hobbled; it'll be interesting to see if he tries to play in their last game today and what this does to his potential PT with Sacramento in the Vegas Summer League...
From today's Jazz blog:
"Wes Matthews suffered a left big toe contusion late in the fourth quarter yesterday. He started today (FRIDAY) but appeared to reaggravate it "
"Matthews officially done for the day (left big toe contusion). His line, 0-1, 0 points, 1 rebound in 37 seconds of action."
:(
No mention of Wes...
