Buzz Williams To Appear On 540 ESPN With Homer Thursday At 2 p.m.
Head coach Buzz Williams will appear on ESPN 540 at 2 p.m. CT on Thursday afternoon along with Steve "The Homer" True to discuss a variety of topics. ESPN 540 is Marquette's official flagship station.

Good segment. Buzz was giving Homer crap the entire time, it was pretty funny.
The thing I found very, very interesting happened right at the beginning. Hometeam asked him to run down the new guys, and he said "our newcomers as it stands right now." Homer pressed him on it a bit. Lost in all that is he did not mention Roseboro. Could be just an oversight, but intriguing nonetheless.

To be fair - it might be 'Scoops fault. I don't know what's going on, but there was a clog in our RSS pipe for a while. Cracked sidewalks wasn't picking up either.

I was listening for anything on Roseboro. Hmm. He did say that all 7 will be on campus by next weekend, and since we have heard nothing else we have to assume that includes Roseboro. But if one of those remaining 2 un-committed top 100 players suddenly decides to cast his lot with MU......now THAT would be interesting.

I too thought it was interesting that he did not mention Roseboro. Likely an oversight.
The two uncommitted Top 100 players are Lance Stephenson and Noel Johnson. Neither are coming to MU.
Found it interesting as well that he mentioned the guys that might be leaving USC.

I'm a diehard MU b-ball fan, but Homer is absolutely brutal. If it weren't a Milwaukee AM sportstalk station, this guy would not have a job.

agree with dbwarrior, Homer needs to let the guest speak and talk about MU ETC.
Buzz stated that more than half of the BCS conference schools have a summer scholarship available if something would happen (MU included). I take this to mean, Roseboro might be a likely candidate for prep school if another signing presented itself. If no additional signing were to take place, Roseboro could still go prep school (leaving the scholarship open this season) or enroll at MU and redshirt (which would count against the scholarship limit). Either way, I don't think we'll see Brett on the court this upcoming season.
The most likely '09 recruit that MU appears to be involved in is 6'8" PF Derrick Williams (a former USC signee), who happens to be ranked #72 on ESPN Top 100. This is above Junior #76, Jeronne #79, and Eric #95.

Yet another reason ESPN has the worst rankings of any service. Having Derrick Williams above any of those guys is a complete joke.
Take a look at the RSCI, which has Derrick Williams as the last player in the Top 100. Rivals, HoopMasters, PrepStars and USA Today don't even have him ranked in the Top 100.
I want to go on record as defending Homer. I think he's a great ambassador for Marquette basketball. He and McIlvaine do a great job on the games. I just wish we could bring back Brute Force and have a three man radio team!
I'd also like to inject Homer with some truth serum and ask him the real reason he almost bolted a couple years ago.

I'm with PRN on this topic: how is he that different from any other sports talk radio host? I find him somewhat entertaining, and as a promoter of things Marquette, he's more than fine. And, not that this should matter a whole lot, but he's really a very good guy in his personal life.

Wow, I must be in the minority cuz I really enjoy listening to Homer's show on the drive home from work. I find it entertaining.
I also am unaware of what this talk of Homer leaving was about? Where was he going to go? Why?

I have to side on the Homer is great as a play-by-play guy and MU ambassador. Listening to his drive time show can be just brutal at times. He is best when he lets the guest speak or the regulars - Wilde, Haudricourt, etc.
Homer's show has degraded a lot since he was on WISN. It used to be focused on callers and since a lot of those callers had interesting points and Homer did a really go job of following up their points it made for an interesting show. I believe he was already on his way down before he went to 540 but at that point the show really flopped. Not sure if they can't get people to call in on 540 due to the time slot or if Homer has just convinced himself that a bunch of inside quips with his side kick are "interesting" to the rest of us. Homer also is so busy trying to make a joke with the guess if he has one that he doesn't really interview them. And of course right now its baseball, baseball and more baseball. If MU signed the top recruit in the nation and the Brewers brought some kid up from A ball it would be a dead heat which would get more coverage.
