Junior Lomomba gets some love in the blog.
Also, Chris Jones from Milwaukee at Combo guard getting some recognition. He is a freshman at Bradley Tech right now. Seems to be making an impact on the AAU scene. (Got a soft spot 'cuz I have taught his little brother and played some ball with him in the past week.)
Besides that, A couple in state guys to keep an eye on.
I'd love to know how much effort college coaches put into a class that far down the road.
Going to be a strong class in WI for 2012. We have Junior Lomomba, Chris Jones, and J.P. Tokoto getting a lot of national pub. This could be a very strong year for WI prospects. Hopefully MU can get there hands on some of them.
I wouldnt mind getting JL, just to keep that MM pipeline open.

Considering that someone/some coach (I forget who) in the past year offered an 8th grader, I'd say enough. If you wait until they're 16-17yrs old, you're too late.
I want to say that when Chris Webber was a freshman in high school, he was getting letters from coaches about their programs, and that was 15 years ago.
Doc Rivers was getting recruited by Majerus as an 8th Grader.

Crean offered Scheyer in the 8th grade.
Nic Wise committed to Arizona between 8th grade and his freshman year in high school.
It kind of seems like an amaetuer was writing those comments. Your post says that it's Bob Gibbon's blog but it was posted by somebody named John Adam. From looking at his profile, my guess is that this is a teenager trying to pose as a national scout.
Buckeyereport on Chris Jones 2012 basketball player
The tournament was really good! The kid that I really loved to watch was Chris Jones the guard from Terry Porter Elite 15u. He was the most talented player of the tournament. A very quick guard, who can get to the basket at will, with a hell of a jumpshot, wonder if he's really from Wisconsin? What amazes me about the kid is that he just broke off to the scene this year and is having the scout buzzing about him. I seen him play against the New York Gauchos and he was simply unstoppable at 6'0 it seems like it would be easy to stop him but he just kept racking up points against the New York Gauchos who is fourth and the nation! He finshed with 27 points! This certainly wouldn't be the last time you hear about Chris Jones
It's not too early to speculate, but it's way too early to put much stock in those speculations. History shows that kids deemed to be the best 8th grader or best freshman don't often end up that way by the time senior year rolls around.
Here's HoopScoop's Top 8th Graders list from 2004, that's this years recruiting class.
http://www.hoopscooponline.com/members/classof2009-top8thgraders-165.html
Take a look at the Top 10:
1. Demetrius Walker - No Longer in the Top 100
2. Lance Stephenson - Top 10.
3. Leshon Edwards - No longer in the Top 300, seems to have stopped playing
4. GJ Vilarino - Not in the Top 100,
5. Aaron Moore - Not in the Top 500
6. Tommy Mason-Griffin - Top 30
7. Kenny Boynton - Top 10
8. Roger Franklin - Top 75
9. Dexter Strickland - Top 25
10. Momo Jones - Top 85
here's a pretty cool look back at players featured in SI back in 1986......from high school seniors down to 6th grade. Check out what happened to these fellas

The only issue with JL is that his uncle, and AAU coach, is Hennssey Auriantal...former Badger who is very close to that program.
Is Chris Jones going to be a freshman IE class of 2013 or did he just finish his freshman season Like JP and JL? The reason I ask is WISSPORTS does not have him rated in the TOP 25 of the class of 2012, which seems odd if in fact he is going to start his SOPH year in AUG/SEPT? If he is freshman in the fall than that would make sense, they have not rated the class of 2013.
QuoteCrean offered Scheyer in the 8th grade
I spoke with Crean about this in Alaska. I have a nephew that played at Glenbrook North who tried desparetly to get John to go to MU. Crean claims he never offered him a scholly in the 8th grade. He claims Scheyer's camp used the one on one game against Wade as publicity. He was genuinely pissed about the rumor.

I wouldn't believe a word Crean says.

Chris Jones was a freshman this year at Bradley Tech. I am not sure how much playing time he received, he is only listed in playing in 11 games but that is actually how many games he scored in.

The roster also lists him at 5'8", but the story has him at 6'0". It seems like he is a little of a late bloomer that caught on the second half the the HS year and that has rolled over to his AAU season.

As an 8th grader bound for a public high school, Scheyer was obviously desperate for publicity. And during his recruitment he was equally desperate, especially after winning the state championship and Illinois Mr. Basketball.
I'm surprised anybody offered him.
