NORMAN — Still on the market for one player to add to next year's team, the Oklahoma Sooners got a head start on the 2010-11 season Tuesday by reportedly securing a verbal commitment from Denison (Texas) High senior-to-be T.J. Taylor.
"Coach (Jeff) Capel was a great player at Duke and was a 6-3 guard like me," Taylor told Rivals.com. "He knows what it takes to be a pro, and he can develop me."
Taylor chose OU over Marquette and Arizona State, according to Rivals. He becomes Capel's first commitment for next year's recruiting class.
The five-member class headed to OU this summer was ranked fourth nationally by ESPN. It includes McDonald's All-Americans Keith Gallon and Tommy Mason-Griffin.
Capel has said he will use the scholarship vacated when Blake Griffin recently decided to turn pro during the current signing period, if the right situation emerged
How serious was MU in landing him (did we really have a shot)?
