Title: Trouble Brewing @ Louisville?
Post by: Tom Crean's Tanning Bed on April 19, 2009, 04:10:26 PM

FBI now investigating an extortion attempt against Pitino.  Rumor on the Louisville boards (and this article) is that he may have been having an affair with his equipment manager's wife.

Some are saying that's there's some other crazy things going on at the 'Ville too, far more extreme than the rumor about a recent MU transfer have been.  Let's just say a star player at the 'Ville was enjoying a certain white powder a little too much according to some.

Can't blame the guy.  Baby powder is great for sweaty feet.

That or a Marv Albert style incident with the equipment manager.  :-\

Sounds like the equipment manager is saying he needs to defend himself too.
"I am devastated by the bizarre allegations that my estranged wife is making against both Coach Pitino and myself."

Actually, you read that "razor" reference wrong. That is assuming that is what your referring to. Obviously you use razor's to shave your face, but sometimes in the sports world you could use the term "razor"  to refer to shaving something else. Yes, that rumor is out there. The ironic thing is, that rumor is coming from the VERY same Kentucky poster that had broken this FBI story on their board 36 hours before it even became public. Things could get VERY ugly for UL when everything this is about(allegedly) comes out.

Oh boy.  Yeah, that could be HUGE.  Might also explain why Richard bolted town to Billy Donovan this week too.

The Pitino affair rumors do not surprise me either.  I actually was having drinks at the Hyatt after an MU game in January, and got into a conversation with an NBA scout at the bar about Pitino.  He mentioned to me that it was well known when he was around the NBA that he had mistresses in several cities.

If this doesn't help make Kentucky stronger in the rivalry other than Calipari's hiring, I don't know what else will.

As Al said, "They had it before you, they had it during you, they'll have it when you're gone."

The fact that the equipment manager, who is the husband of the extorter, is supporting Pitino. That says a lot to me. This could be an example of some unbalanced individual saying "I'm going to tell everyone that you (insert embarassing/disturbing/distateful situation) unless you pay me $$$$$." That doesn't mean that she actually has anything, just that she is going to use the rumor as leverage to get some cash.

Estranged husband... must factor that into this dramedy.

I believe that's the actual definition of extortion.  :D

No, smartass, its A definition of extortion. Another definition would be when you have an actual, factual piece of "dirt" on somebody and threaten to go public with it unless they pay you cash.

The difference in the Pitino situation is that it doesn't pass the smell test. Something doesn't add up. That was my point. Please read carefully and think for a second before you make a post.

so he's right, that is an "actual" definition of extortion.  seems like he read your post carefully to me...

Actually, the distinction the original poster made was between "a definition" and "THE definition," which is a rather important distinction.

Seems like you haven't read either post.

Because he couldn't sleep last night and is in a crabby mood. That's why, dammit. I also yelled at my secretary for no reason and then had to send her an email saying I was sorry.

didn't you mean to say that nothing is quite as fruitful as arguing over linguistics?
