Mirror game history
05-06
DePaul, Notre Dame & Pittsburg 5-1
06-07
Providence, Louisville, & Pittsburg 4-2
07-08
Seton Hall, Notre Dame & Louisville 3-3
08-09
Villanova, Georgetown & DePaul 5-1
Our success next year depends on these games. I will be interesting to see who the Big East matches us with. DePaul will be a terrible team and should result in two wins. However, if we finish 9-9 in the league, two wins agianst DePaul will hurt us on selection Sunday, so I hope they are not one of our mirror games.

I'd rather have those 2 wins against DePaul instead of potentially one or two more losses against a top team. Those 2 wins would "hurt us" much less than any losses would.
Seems unlikely we'd get DePaul again after mirror games against them two of the last four years. Maybe we'll end up with a rivalry series against Cincy or, um, South Florida.
It does seem like they to set up the mirror games against a top third, a middle third, and a bottom third team, with some tweaking for better matchups and rivalries. Obviously that doesn't always work out with teams like ND and Georgetown this past season not living up to expectations.
I would sign on for perpetual mirror games with DePaul, Notre Dame and Pitt. I think these are the best rivalries from a fan perspective.

I'd replace DePaul with Louisville, but I agree with your sentiment.

Oooh that's be great! Home games of Pitt, Louisville, and ND would be a lot of fun.
I like Nova as an emerging rival. Not as much a fan of the Pitt games.
As far as the mirror games discussion all i want to know is will there every be a year where we dont play at ND!!
Look at the schedule first year 2 games home and away, next year at ND, next yeat home and away next year at ND.
How about a couple years in a row at Mu to even it out?!! We have faired well in the series over the last 4 years but that is absolte horse crap.
One reason that the Big East wanted us to join is to promote the Big East and the Big East network in the Chicagoland area. Having Marquette and Notre Dame playing in Chicago every year generates revenue for the conference and in theory would cause more people to want the Big East network in their cable packages in Chicago. DePaul sucking hurts this plan tremendously, but the conference will be sure to get Marquette and Notre Dame in there as much as possible.

so they have had one extra game at home. if we have one game at home next year, it'll be even. not a big deal.
