Click on the USF vs Marquette video highlight link and you get a 4 minute plus montage of USF buckets but it is the last play they show that is the sweetest. ;D

Looks like Jerel probably could have made the pass to Dom for an easier shot. Could have been called for the charge but great none call.
Here's a direct link. Should just fire up your media player.

Brutal. They must have showed every made basket by USF in both halves of the game before finally showing the last play of the game.
Nice to see anyway.
Looks like we forgot to pack our defense. Great to get out of there with a win.
I almost hate to bring this up...but...
Just watched the last play 3 times - what the HELL was DJ doing after the play? Rather than go and celebrate in the huddle with the rest of the team, he walks off to the left of the screen clapping in the direction of the press table (or fans)? Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but seems rather odd.
That is odd with DJ .. he was certainly stomping off to someone on the sidelines, opposite of the team celebration.
Or he was looking for a garbage can to upchuck into, since he was sick.

Actually...that could be it. It looks like Fitzgerald starts approaching him, and then quickly changes direction, and then the same thing with Cubillan.
Safe to say DJ was quite happy....love the guy with the Marquette Warriors shirt in the background. ;D
can't argue with the outcome, and it's good to see mcneal be the hero, but a bounce pass to DJ would have been an easier lay-up and taken any chance of the charge out of the equation...
Jesus, you guys read way too much into ever little thing DJ does. Watch it again, immediately after the winning shot DJ raises both arms in the air for victory and claps very assertive. He does walk in the opposite direction, but so what. It is clear that he was joyous after the shot too. I don't see him pouting or being negative in any way. Let him celebrate or puke the way he chooses.

Guess I stated it poorly. He's clearly happy. But walking away from the team celebration is odd. He can do what he likes, I was just surprised not to see him head to the mass celebration.
I think it's a legit item to discuss, as I'm guessing USF fans may have a different interpretation. Sure, he was happy. .. he could have been going to the media table .. or maybe to someone he knew on the sidelines .. I know everyone is hoping he wasn't going to taunt some vocal fans -- and there were some idiot fans there.
You could really hear some dinks on Homer's broadcast .. even before the game started, they were chanting "OVER-RATED". WTF was that?? Don't you wait until you're beating a team to chant that?
(1) It is a tough to make a judgment call on such a small clip, but it certainly looks like DJ was going to let someone know about the win. I am pretty sure he wasn't pouting. I am just hoping it wasn't rubbing it in some fan's face.
(2) As for McNeal, I am not sure that DJ gets the shot off in time if McNeal opts for the dish. McNeal barely had enough time as it is. By the time he passes the ball, the ball arrives in DJ's hands, and DJ initiates the shot, time could very well have run out...then we'd all be complaining about how he should have taken the shot knowing so little time was left.
We had one single view of the action from way up high and could only see a portion of the post-game celebrations. Nobody can see the entire arena to see where or what DJ may have been up to. It is not appropriate to speculate given the single camera angle.
Maybe tampa warrior will be able to fill in for us.
This scene reminds me of last years game in the NCAAs where MU lost to Alabama. TC and JM, DJ, and WM are all gathered at the end of the game. Not shown is that the rest of the team left the court. Chico's and I were there and watched the post-game huddle. So many people made a big deal of that group when it was a total non-issue. The same is true here. We only saw one single crappy camera angle. It is wrong to suggest anything based on that video.
Just fastforward to about 3:50, and that should bring you right to the play.
Sticking just with the play now instead of trying to read DJ's mind from a short clip I will say this: after watching the play over and over, little doubt in my mind DJ had an easier path to the shot and since he was ahead of Wes at the end and didn't have to drive around a man, I have no doubt he could have gotten the shot off in time. It also looks a whole lot closer to a charge than I would have liked. But, all is well that ends well, and this ended well that's for sure.

*I was thinking the same thing.*
I didn't want to say it outloud for fear of the refs changing their mind and sending a USF player to the line for FTs. :)
No FTs on a charge.
Can someone please upload it to youtube as I'm having trouble viewing it...
Thanks! ;D

Apparently DJ has family in the South Florida area, people on the other board were saying he was walking over to them after they won. I wouldn't read too much into.
Fair enough. I also saw via the youtube clip (thanks ons20!) that DJ - not long after walking off the screen - walked back to the team and joined them for the end of game handshakes.

From what I could tell, he did have some friends and/or family there. He was chatting with some folks there during pregame. I didn't see the postgame celebration...once I was SURE they weren't going to call a charge, I had to go scramble for the wedding ring that flew off my hand in the celebration.

Yeah, the chanting "dinks" were close to us.
Actually, that chant has never made any sense to me even after a win...I mean, doesn't it
diminish your own team's accomplishment if the other team is "overrated"?

Must have been one hell of a "celebration." ;D
I love the band music playing throughout the video. It's like some olde-tyme newsreel. You can almost hear the voice...
"DATELINE NORMANDY! 1944! THE ALLIES LAUNCH THE FIRST STRIKE AGAINST THE NAZI JACKBOOT! STAY TUNED FOR THE MAIN FEATURE!"
