Interesting. This might have already been posted but a lot of parallels with Marquette. Assistant coach for only a short time who is at the right time and place. Also, known for recruting with little head coaching experience. A lot of similarities with us.
The Memphis hiring process was completely flawed! Did any large boosters interview Pastner?

Why were Sean Miller and Tony Bennett not interested?

Why were Sean Miller and Tony Bennett not interested?
Because Bennett signed with Virginia last week and Miller with Arizona today
I guess that tells us the Memphis job, in their mind, equates to the Marquette job....at least in terms of risk taking it.
While I have no idea on how Pastner will do at Memphis, Buzz is infinitely more qualified than Pastner

+1
Buzz was trying to hire Josh last year. My wife and I sat at the food area in Mitchell Field last April and Buzz and Josh sat next to us while we were breakfasting waiting for our flight. Josh is a very young looking guy. Good luck to him. I suspect he'll do well at Memphis.
Why wasn't Chris Lowery of Southern Illinois given an interview after his "successful" 13-18 record (8-10 in the underrated MVC)?

Just asking the question, would Buzz Williams of New Orleans be given an interview after his 14-17 record (9-9 in his league)?
What do you think this hiring will do to our Tex recruiting pipeline? I still think that Buzz has the edge but there may be a new competitor.

No, I don't think he would have been given an interview at that time. He did impress TC enough as an assistant to get a recommendation and an interview.

Josh is not a new competitor, he's been recruiting Texas since he was a player at UofA, and his father is one of the top AAU coaches in the state. Buzz has always had to work around Josh, and that doesn't change regardless of where he is or what job he has.

Thanks, didn't know it to that level.
Is Pastner going to run a "winning offense"?
