SO I have done some thinking this past week, and I have come to this conclusion.
To get back at the NCAA and show that they need to fix this rule, Buzz should instruct that every poor free-throw shooter when they are fouled, act as if they are injured, sub-in some 80-90% free-throw shooter, and then next dead ball sub back in fouled player.
Why Dwight Burke and D James every took a free-throw is beyond me.
You are assuring yourself two points just about everytime.
Jim Boeheim, take notes, do it tonight with Onowaku, that man is brutally bad at free-throws, just sub him out, and then sub him back in.
Whats the penalty, being called "cheap"... well call me cheap as I wander into the Elite Eight while knocking down 85% of the free-throws taken by the team.
Hmmm this is a fun theoretical thing to think about.
Using Dom as an example... He gets fouled, and gets "hurt". He gets subbed out for a good free throw shooter, but a worse overall player. Then Dom is stuck on the bench for a few minutes until the next dead ball, while that inferior player is out there playing in his spot. So really, do you want to trade an extra point or two if it means a worse player will be out on the floor? Dom would probably help offensively create (and defensively stop) enough points to offset his missed free throws.
Obviously that's using an excellent player as an example. A player like Burke who wouldn't have as much drop-off when going to the bench might be different, but most big men that could fill his 5 spot aren't going to be much better at free throws.
