Devin Harris and Travis Diener were in the same HS class right?
What was the story there. Did one commit before the other basically sending the other to the other school? Were there other schools in play for either one?

UW wanted Diener, but at the time their coach was Dick Bennett, and he's talked about not wanting to play in Bennett's slow down offense so they weren't really in the running. He considered St. Louis because his cousin was there, as well as Utah.
MU recruited Harris but not as hard as they went after Diener. Many thought MU had the in because Harris played HS ball with Scott Merritt, but Bennett went after him much harder.
Wasn't the story, we also like Ron Howard more? If I remember correctly, Harris committed after his senior year, when we picked Robert Jackson and I think Townsend.

From what I've heard thru the grapevine over the years, Merritt was the reason why Harris DIDN'T come to MU. The two allegedly had some bad blood during their HS days for what it's worth.
