If, for some reason, Dominic would not hook up with an NBA team or a team over in Europe, (I'm not saying that is going to happen-it most likely WILL happen)--wouldn't it be great for Marquette to keep him with the team in some capacity, i.e., coaching??? I loved his enthusiasm when he wasn't playing and with his basketball knowledge I think he would be a welcome assist.

I think Buzz was quoted that there would always be a job for DJ on his bench if he wanted one.
I could see that happening in the future, ala Brandin Knight over at Pitt

Buzz even joked about getting DJ a Robert Talbott shirt and tie.

I think that's an apt comparision. Hopefully like Knight, Dom can find his way into the NBA or a top European league and make enough money to support his family and then come back to coaching later on.

I 100% agree with your sentiment.
I think it would be great to see 'Nic as a coach, but I know he's got a lot of basketball left in him before he'll feel comfortable sitting on the sidelines.
Assuming he fully recovers, Dominic should be able to play overseas for a good amount of time...and maybe get a cup of coffee in the NBA here and there.
After all of that, I could see it happening...

Right. If guys like Joe Chapmann, Chris Grimm and Ousmane Barro can play oversees, then without a doubt Dominic James can play oversees once he recovers.
James has the talent and ability to play in Europe for arguably more money than in the US; i'd say he should be able to get 200k+ and play in a competitive league. I love DJ and I hope to see him on the bench at some point in the future.
Will he be coaching free throw shooting?

They don't practice free throw shooting.

I thought he promised that to Dom after he officially graduated.

That's not the way I remember it... but you could be right. Or maybe Buzz recycles his jokes.
EDIT: Or are you trying to deflect NCAA violation concern?
Dom is a long way from coaching (he said it himself), although *I* think he'd be good at it; you have to get past the point where you don't feel helpless/jealous from the sidelines as much (b/c that probably never fully goes away!)
