it's kind of weird. I "researched" it on wikipedia, just to find out its backstory. I don't understand the glamour of "following" everyone in the whole wide world, facebook is plenty for me. I guess my attention span isn't that short? I think the internet dulls our ability to interact on the face to face level; i am already finding it awkward to talk to certain people in person with whom i primarily communicate via email/facebook, etc.
and, as my dad says, it's a bandwidth whore :D it's much better spent watching House online.

it is a great mobile rss feed for my blackberry. i also works well if you do any sort of marketing as the social aspect is fantastic. it isn't just a voyeur site but a way to connect with other people in field and collaborate.
I'm on Twitter, and I'm addicted. I don't use Facebook nearly as much as I used to and actually find it boring now. Twitter can definitely be a waste of time if you're not following the right people. A few people/organizations I follow include Marquette University, Marquette Athletics, CrackedSidewalks, and professionals in my fields of interest. At first I thought Twitter was just a glorified Facebook status, but it can be more informative if you use it correctly. Instead of saying useless things like "eating a sandwich," it's good to try and share links to news stories, upcoming events, etc. Once you get the hang of it, it can be a good tool/resource.
One of my favorite things to do was follow fellow Marquette fans during away games and see what they were thinking about the team's performance.
I'm just glad that I can see P Diddy's thoughts on the Rihanna/Chris Brown incident.

Think of it as an ultrapersonalized RSS feed. Everyone I know who has given Twitter a serious look has gone from thinking it was stupid to thinking it is indispensible (and that includes me).
It's a great professional resource--a very simple way to connect with thought-leaders in your industry and to keep up on the meta conversation. If you follow the right people, you'll truly be amazed how useful Twitter can be.

Check out Starbucks' Twitter page right now. They have over 100,000 people following them. For no cost other than their writer's time, they can send messages to those 100,000 people. Coke's fan page on FB has over 3 million people. This shows you just how much more prevalent FB is but also the potential of twitter. Both of these mediums allow companies to interact with their customers. That's no small thing.
it sounds promising perhaps . . . but I will wait it out for awhile still. I don't want to jeopardize myself by posting something stupid on accident that gets read by the wrong person/people/organization (which can happen to anyone).
plus, I have enough internet and non-internet distractions & obligations now as it is to keep me busy; this is my glorified twitter board anyway,---"i'm going for a run, :D"
maybe it would be worth it if those big companies gave out coupons, etc., but otherwise people are making it too easy to be marketed to. it's bad enough i have to sit through commercials during march madness!

to me this is an annoying waste of time, but thats how i see advertising in general
