Title: NBA all star team starters announced
Post by: spiral97 on January 26, 2007, 09:12:24 AM
game is feb 18th

eastern conference:
Guards: DW3, Gilber Arenas
Forwards: LeBron James (top vote getter), Chris Bosh
Center: Shaq (really?!?!)

western conference:
Guards: Kobe, Tracy McGrady
Forwards: Kevein Garnett, Tim Duncan
Center: Yao Ming

Looks like Miami and Houston were the big winners.. should be nice to watch james and wade play together again...

rocky: pops up in the middle of our milwaukee trip.. didn't it pop up in the middle of last year's too?

Shaq getting the nod is a joke.  Love the guy, but come on, he's played like 8 minutes all season.  Dwight Howard should easily have been a starter.

Congrats to Gilbert for finally getting the recognition he deserved. (even if it required AI being traded to the Western Conference)

Also, no Dirk? no Nash?  They've gotta be the front runners for MVP right now.

agreed on shaq.. this is and always has been a popularity contest.. don't get the nash slight though...

nowitzki I get.. he's popular down here in dallas but a lot of non-mavs fans can't stand him here...

interesting stuff about arenas that I was reading.. he's using the fact that he got cut from team usa last summer to motivate him.. he scored like 54 pts. against the suns (whose coach was an assistant to coach k on team usa).  he's also said that he'd give up a whole NBA season for the chance to play duke again and said he'd score "84 or 85" points against them.  LOL  Talk about being pissed off!

the NBA's method of choosing the all-star teams is just insane. fans should not choose the starting lineups or anything other than the last one or two players on each squad. Dirk should be a shoe-in, he's above 25 pts a game and the rest of his numbers definitely put him as an MVP contender...don't understand this much at all.
