dumb.
the foul was a bad call. typical. When has MU gotten a call all year?
Lazar 5th Grade Play.
The Officials Sucked big time.
That'll be known as Lazar's Chris Webber moment.
As terrific as Jerel was, missed FT and awful shot from the lane were costly. Hard to complain -- they played their butts off.
Can't win those close ones. Had the lead and can't hold it. This game, Vill., Syracuse. Don't get it and don't know if its coaching. Feel for Hayward, but shouldn't have been in that position in first place.
Played their hearts out, but Mizzo had the big bodies and that English kid killed us in first half.
Hold heads up
That was dumb by Lazar but if we got ANY calls earlier in this game, it was ours. I hate Memphis with a passion but I cannot wait to see Memphis destory Mizzou next week.
the inbounds play really hurt us and the reffing well..... also, questionable allowance of substitute to shoot FT's...injured my arse.
But, we had it in our hands and we let it get away, again.
Congrats guys on a great effort and a memorable season. We won't see your likes again for some time around here. Thanks.
was jerel held on that inbounds pass? The way lazar double clutched I seem to think he was. Also buzz was yelling at the refs after that call making me think jerel was held. Of course CBS didn't show a replay so if anyone eles saw it?
Played like Warriors, but you cannot keep digging 14, 16 point deficits against tournament teams and expect to win...
We seem to always be a bucket off the victory (Alabama, Stanford, Missouri)....
The possession with Bulter heaving a three (and not catching iron), was unfortunately, the play of the game. It was such a bad possession that it was Crean-esque. Too bad. Great comeback, though. Plenty to be proud of.
Ecompt
Exactly what I was thinking. The bad shot and ft were big, but he played so well in the 2nd half it's the way it goes.
I was more ticked off on the clear out they ran. Really bad defense by us.
And next year begins.....
we lost the game becuase of second chance points that Mizzou got simply time after time...including the dagger putback and Ft by Lyons.
Next season starts, with Lazar needing to unlearn the leaning, one-footed inbound passes he's been frightening me with for so long. I knew it would bite him some time.
Ha, you guys are still going after McNeal...at least it wasn't Mr. Hayward posting it.
You guys are unreal.

The sub FT shooter had a worse % than the injured guy, according to the announcers.
McNeal's missed FT was huge, because it allowed Missouri to hold for the last shot, which they wouldn't have been able to do had they been down 1. I have no problem with McNeal's missed jumper in the lane. He got us back in the game by making shots like that.
I love this team and am going to miss these guys, but they can find ways to lose at the end like nobody's business.
Todd Townsend did the same thing a few years ago - I can't believe it happened again. This is high school stuff - You cannot even make this stuff up. Also why the hell is Mcneal going for the steal when his guy is posting him up! Stupid stupid stupid.
Horrible ending . . again. Story of MU's life. Since Crean pretty much recruited scabs(I know the phrase is mean but it's the truth) the last 3 years next years team will pretty much be all Buzz's - which isn't bad.

He was going to Acker, but Carrol jumped out at him at the last second which caused the double clutch. Of course had he let it go Carrol would have picked it off anyway, but if he keep that foot back, who knows? We were behind.
All of the 'reasons we lost' are valid...Zar's boner, failing to secure loose balls late, that pathetic possession, allowing a layup late, not to mention the terrible first half...eliminate one of them and we probably win, but there were plenty of differences in this one.
Leaning over the line by an inch makes us lose the game, awesome rules. How about them putting their bench player in to shoot FT for the "injured" guy. Complete BS.

That was total BS too - I cannot believed that happened and then he some how gets back into the game. Williams better file a complaint!!!
I want to complain that Jerel was held on that inbounds play that Lazar f'd up or that Mo Acker was raped on that 3 even though we needed 4 points. And I want to complain that buzz mishandled the end somewhat but...
coming back from 16 points down and looking DOA at the end of the half was unbelievable and even though this has been back to back heart breaking losses. They seem to have some of the hardest luck in close games
These three guys have been an amazing asset MU basketball and I feel like they deserve an infinite amount of credit to bringing MU ball to prominence for years to come.
I feel like I could say more later but I'm still very proud of how well these guys played not just today but in their careers I just wish they would have went out in a better way

EXACTLY my first thought.
We were outscored 9-1 at the end. I love these guys, but once James went down we just continually found a way to blow it at the end.

Agreed. Jerel, Dom, Wes, Lazar, Butler, Wade, Diener, Novak, R Jackson all = scabs. Great point.

Yeah he pretty much did recruit scabs the last 3 years. Next time read the post instead of being illiterate. Next to hayward who else did TC recruit that was a difference maker. I'm waiting for an intelligent answer??

It's not just Lazar, most player in college basketball do something like that. In the BET when Syracuse beat WVU, the half time buzzer beater that Devendorf made should never have counted because the in bounder(either Rautins or Ongeanot) was clearly over the line when he threw the pass. Years ago at the BC, Michael Wright cost Arizona a trip to the Sweet 16 when he did the same thing.

Yep, Lazar is a great player and, by all accounts, a great kid. Hopefulluy he shakes it off and comes back for a monster senior year, beacuse MU is going to need it.

Perfectly within the rules. He got back in the game because Buzz called a timeout.
I thought McNeal came very close to getting a charge call there, but my guess is if the NCAA had the NBA semi-circle under the hoop, that Jerel's heels would have been inside.
