Title: That USF game really looms large now
Post by: RawdogDX on March 21, 2009, 12:35:25 PM
We win that game and it completely changes the position we are in now.

Maybe.  But, truthfully, for better or worse?  DJ would still be out.

How?  would we be in the sweet 16 already?

Definitely!

I don't think the South Florida game really meant anything in the big picture.  I don't think we have any more of a favorable match up in the second round if we win that specific game.  We still would have lost the majority of games since DJ's injury.

You must be crazy....we won yesterday.....we have a shot at a berth in the sweet sixteen......what could have changed our position?

Are you suggesting that MU will finish the season with double-digit losses?
No way. 5-0 to close the season.

Good grief.   Yeah, I hate MU.....despise them in fact.  I secretly wish for us to lose every game.

The USF game means nothing now Rawdog, but a win there would have meant a top 4 finish....you know, the spot that Villanova got....you know...the 3 seed that Villanova got in the NCAAs.  So yes, the game was large then, but right now it means nothing.  I guess it was an attempt at humor, I get it.

I've got MU beating Missouri tomorrow just to show how much I hate Marquette and Buzz.  ::)

However, you are covered if we lose too.

Well of course, I'll be doing the jig outside because I'll be so happy since I hate MU so much.  Good grief.

I'm sorry that I don't drink the kool-aid 24/7 like you do in West Philly.  If the team or staff does a poor job, I'll say it.  That makes me a hater?  That makes someone not a fan?  Good Christ, for someone from Philadelphia that is SHOCKING to hear.  That's how you people operate 24/7 up there.

MU has had a very good year, Buzz done a fine job with only a handful of games where I would say he did poorly.

No haters here mviale, sorry to pop your bubble.  If we play well tomorrow and lose, I'm fine with that.  If we play poorly tomorrow and lose, then I won't be.  Yesterday we got lucky, sorry but that's reality.  Against Nova, we executed extremely poorly in the last 25 seconds and lost because of it.  Sorry if some of us had the audacity to call them out on it.  Be it coaching, performance, decision making or whatever.

That's being a fan.  Passion win or lose.

Go Warriors!

Actually, MU would have tied Nova for the #4 spot.  But, Nova had the tie breaker, so MU still would not have gotten the double-bye and still would have played SJU and then Nova.   In the end chicos, you are correct and Rawdog is chewing on an old bone.

I realize it wouldn't have helped our seeding in the BET, but it could have helped in the NCAAs.  It all became moot when James got hurt, but the loss at the time was a bad loss as we were fully healthy and in first place in the Big East.  A healthy James and winning one or two more of those games down the stretch, suddenly you're playing for a 1, 2 or 3 seed in the NCAAs.  That's just reality.  It was a terrible loss.

Why bringing it up now, I have no idea.  Silly.

Well Philly people cant stand Fence sitters that come out on the side that is easiest to defend.  Buzz is my coach and I will stubbornly defend him.  Honesty earns respect in philly.

Yep, its water under the bridge.  Also, don't think it would have changed the NCAA seeding as DJ was gone.  The 6 seed probably would have stayed the same.?

If you're still thinking about that game, you really have a hard time moving forward.  Are you still replaying the Kansas game in your mind from the national semis in '03?  Have you looked at this from another viewpoint and thought how easily it would have been to quit against Providence, only to see the team dart back and win a game it should have lost?  I think it's evened out.  Most teams have a loss or two they would like to have back.  MU is in the tourney, and in a fairly good position to advance.
