Title: memphis overrated?
Post by: mviale on March 19, 2009, 11:40:08 PM
They were neck and neck with csu northridge. Sallie had to hit 10/15 3 pters to pull out the win.  Could Marquette have a rematch with Uconn?

A note on sallie - he is a california product - city college of San Francisco. He was rejected by Washington & Nebraska due to grades, but Calipari took him on at Memphia.

Memphis looked soft and beatable.  I hope we get to face them but I fear Maryland will beat them in this next game.

Very often top seeded teams play down to the level of competition in that first game-----in fact as often as not this happens in that first game-----remember MU vs HC?

in fact teams that leave their best game on the floor in that opener usually don't make the final 4-----some exceptions apply!

Lots of close games yesterday.  If anything, games like Memphis, UCLA and Villanova showed that any lower seeded team can win and that includes Utah State against us.

Memphis also lost to Georgetown and Gonzaga this year.  They have a lot of talent but could be ripe

I believe those losses occurred before they moved Tyreke Evans to point guard.  They are a much improved team ever since they made that move.
