Title: Selection Sunday Thread
Post by: Moonboots on March 15, 2009, 05:07:19 PM
Three Big East teams get #1 seeds, Louisville as the #1 overall (midwest), Pitt in the east, and UConn out west.  UNC has the other.

Thoughts?

It is awesome to be part of the Big East conference is my immediate thought.  Wow.  Three number 1's!

Looks like we're heading towards the 2 side of the bracket.  We may avoid the 8 out of procedural reasons (only 1 seed we could face in round 2 is UNC).

Question is, if Memphis didn't get the 4th #1, where exactly did the committee have them on the S-Curve?

It's what I expected, I wouldn't want to be in the bracket where Memphis is the #2 seed.

I really thought MU was going to wind up as either a 7 seed or 6 seed in Minneapolis opposite Mich St or Kansas.

I really wanted that 6 seed that WV is currently holding.

If we're a 7, you can be sure it'll be opposite Oklahoma.

+1 to the KU thing.  I really thought we were getting a Midwest draw.  Now, I have no clue.

I dunno, I never thought they wouldn't get a better seed than MU.

I'm okay with this. Utah State, Missouri in the first weekend.  Not happy with getting shipped out west, but happy with a 6 seed.

I like playing Mizzou in the 2nd round.  Concerned about Utah ST.  Don't know anything about them, but I can't imagine it'll be a cakewalk.

NCAA was fair to us - now its time to play!!!!

I like it... a lot. and MU vs MU game?

I see (am hoping) for a lot of upsets in the Midwest. Come on North Dakota State?

Love it and I think Memphis is the team to beat

Drat. It'll basically be a home game for Utah State, which is a pretty good team. Don't like the location at all. Lower seed has the geographic advantage. Isn't the committee getting sick of sending MU out west already?

Utah State was 30-4, so they can't be that bad.  Someone I presume will do a deep analysis on their schedule.

Think the committee did us great with a 6, whew.....

At least we know the game will more then likely be on after we have gotten home from work. Wisconsin and Marquette Both out in Boise Cheeseheads will be abound.

i didn't think you could play the opening rounds at your home court/arena....

... so how did villanova get seeded in philly?  is temple or st. joes or something considered the hosts?  but it's going to be the same arena, so how did that happen
