Title: cuse-uconn
Post by: wermarquette on March 12, 2009, 10:53:06 PM
wow what an amazing game. 1.1 sec left, tied game. cuse throws it full court and hits a miracle three, only to have it reviewed and called back by a millisecond. going to overtime

this is why the big east tournament is so fun

the big east is going to make some major noise in this tournament. from pitt to conn to ville to nova to cuse to wv, we are all used to playing the best of the best competition. i dont see any teams from other conferences being able to match our physicality and athleticism, including nc. i would absolutely love to see an all beast final four

btw... any chance that erik williams = stanley robinson? 6'8 - 6'9 small forwards. great shot blockers. maybe erik a better shooter

I would love to have Rautins on Marquette's team - is he a transfer to Syracuse or did he come in as a freshman?

can you imagine marquette in this kind of game? we would be playing frozena out of necessity

Everyone's fouling out.

Syracuse just put in a walk-on.

I would enjoy this game much more if Devendorf wasn't on Syracuse.  I really despise any team that would allow such a classless a$$.  But besides that, wow, they are going to be tired.

ha! Midway through this post Devendouch fouls out.  Ok, now I'm enjoying it!

The last two shots were eerily similar to ours...  Jim Boeheim and Calhoun seemed to do the same as Buzz.

ya. did anybody else notice that the announcers praised uconn for shooting that last shot early instead of running down more clock to ensure a good shot? kind of funny

McDounagh is a Syracuse alum.

The fact he's been able to keep it together this long is just a tribute to his professionalism.  I certainly wouldn't be able to if I were calling a game like this with MU, nor could 98% of his ESPN coworkers.

Jonny Flynn = Most Clutch Player in the BE.  He's been unreal.  Ice in his veins.  12-12 on FTs, with several tying the game.

Too bad the chat room couldn't have been opened up for this one.

Some of the stats right now are mind-boggling.

200 COMIBINED shots for both teams.

Harris with 24-19.

3 UConn Players (Adrien, Thabeet, and Robinson) with double-doubles.

Damn - I was sitting here catching up on threads and didn't even realize the game was still going on (was out tonight and figured all would be over).  Just missed the end.

Cuse wins 127-117 6OT

Started watching in the middle of the first OT.  Perfect place to start :)

Cuse had their Robert Frozena equivalent (actually less pt than Frozena has had) in for 12 minutes.

Mookie redshirted the year due to hip surgery.  And apparently was not sitting on the SU bench at the Garden tonight.

Wow, what a recap to wake up to!  And the lucky winner gets to lace 'em up again in the same day they finished the last one.  Flynn played 67 of 70 minutes.  That's two games worth.  If WV doesn't try to run them into the ground, I can only  conclude that Huggins went 6 OT at the bar last night.  ;D (That may be a foregone conclusion anyways)

Wow! When UConn went up 6 in the 3rd OT, I went to bed, and I guess I'm glad I did...6AM comes around at the same time every day. I am kinda sorry I missed the rest though. Amazing.

Frankly, if I'm Calhoun, I'm not all that upset that I lost that game.  They'll need a few days to recover from that one.

I opened the newspaper this morning to see who won last night and it said the Syracuse-UCONN game was a Late Game and gave no score.  I couldn't figure out how in the world an East Coast game could be a Late Game (besides a World Series game).  6 OT's would explain it.

That is one I will regret missing.

I was covering a high school game on TV last night, and told a good friend of mine who's a U of L fan to call me if either late game was an upset. Got the message on WVU and Pitt, and called him back as I was leaving the gym. He told me 'cuse was up 6-4. Got a call about 15 minutes from home when Devendorf hit the non-shot, and got a second call about 30 seconds from home. So I got to watch the final 5 OTs.
