they do well pushing. don't sit back now you have the lead and eat up time. way toooooo close for that. eat up 20sec by moving the ball and cutting, just like they did to come back and gain the lead!
This was my criticism of Buzz in the Syracuse game, and I think it applies here as well. As Elmore said, they may have been going 2 for 1 which makes sense, but as I like to say, just play.
Of course McNeal falling asleed with 2 seconds left didn't help. Maybe he was tired after all.
Jay Bilias said something similiar during Gameday a week or so ago. that it kills teams especially when they don't have to be fouled. teams get to where they are playing a certain style, then they change it up right away. marquette's up by 7 with a minute to go, then sure, eat some clock. but they finally got the lead (by 1) after fighting from 16 down hustling and cutting and driving, then they just sit with the ball. Villanova was clearly scrambling during the run. it's like the stupid prevent D. don't get pressure on the quaterback, the cover guys will always lose.
i never played sports at this level, but noone gets tired like that at the end of that kind of game. they might collapse after, but for those closing seconds, way toooo much adrenaline pumping. and if you don't have it pumping, then you shouldn't be playing.
