Stop over to the Seton Hall board on Rivals -- Piratz has a nice preview of the game (http://setonhall.rivals.com/showmsg.asp?fid=330&tid=87874304&mid=87874304&sid=959&style=2)
After reading their message board it looks like SHU fans really feel confident they have a good chance to beat us. I don't think I've seen a BE fan base this confident going into a game against us yet this year. Maybe Pitt's fans were, but then again they were ranked #6 in the nation and getting us on their home court. So I would expect them to think they could beat us. I hope we lay it to the Hall on Wed. night.
MU is known for letting "easy win" games become traps.
I say SHU or USF is a trap.
Seton Hall alumnus here. Just dropping by to wish you guys luck tomorrow. I hope to consider MU a sister school soon. Both programs are small catholic basketball only schools. We need to stick together.
In response to this thread, trust me, we are by no means cocky about this game. Especially after MU's game at Pitt. I think the only aspect we are confident about is we match-up well with Marquette. So there is hope we can steal one. We need road victories and this is probably the few favorable BE road games we have a shot at. However, we just lost our only "true" center for the season due to ACL. We only have one player who is over 6'7, John Garcia, who is coming back from multiple knee injuries in a two year span.
We are a young rebuilding team that has low expectations for this season. The future for SHU is very bright. Most of our fans are thrilled with our new coach.
Funny I have a dentist appointment tonight. My Dr. went to Marquette. :-[
I was unaware that you had lost your center to an ACL tear recently. While MU is not an extremely large team, we are a very physical team that crashes the boards well. Ousmane Barro has been fantastic recently, really in all facets of the game, and he is very long and gets his hands on a lot of balls. Our guards are especially adept at trackign down long rebounds, and matthews can stick his nose in there and come out with his fair share in the post. I understand you guys have strong guard play as well, but I still feel that as long as you guys don't get extremely hot from three point range (i recall nutter lighting us up last year) we should be able to handle you guys in a hard-fought game. Best of luck the rest of the season, and don't worry, MU dentists don't hold grudges...just don't mention the wisconsin game!
Was just listening to Milwaukee Sports Radio and they had Seton Hall's head coach (Bobby Gonzalez) on. Seton Hall was just about to board their airplane heading for Milwaukee.
Did anyone else hear this interview??
Talk about taking 'coachspeak' to a whole new level!!
He said it would be a tough match-up. There is no way to stop the big three. They start two freshman who are very inexperienced. They just hope to keep it close!!! Almost sounded like Homer was on the phone. I had to listen to the whole thing just to make sure it wasn't a gag. He sounded very pro-MU.
Bobby--with an attitude like that why even get on the plane?!?
sounds like Bobby has a little bit of Lou Holtz in him. He is a terrific young coach and he will have his team playing very hard. This won't be easy, I don't think.
