Anybody think that guys like Butler and Acker passed up a lot of wiide open looks? I understand you want your top scorers doing the bulk of the scoring, however, when defenses are giving your role players wide open looks they got to take some of those.
You know why they passed up open looks? They are both gun shy. Acker will occasionally throw up a three ball, but Butler refuses to shoot from more than 4 feet away from the basket. The team has very few legit scoring options. Butler has certainly shown incredible progress in other areas of his game. Overall, he's a diamond in the rough.
Early in the shot clock I don't mind seeing Butler and Acker passing on shots to see if we can get a better look.
Acker played a lot better today, particulalry in the first half. In the second half they just left him wide open and he passed up several wide open threes. It's very hard for McNeal when everyone knows he's going to shoot.
Yes. There were many open shots in the paint and elsewhere that were passed up.
Jimmy is going to have to step into that other scoring threat role. He has great form on his shots and his midrange jumpers generally fall. I would like to see him take some of those open 3's he's been getting the past few games.
Guys aren't gun shy. They are instructed to not shoot. Acker only shoots with under 10 in the clock. Coobie has clearly been told do not shoot under any circumstances. Butler will only shoot within about 7 feet. Those are the orders, and the players do not break them.
Problem is, hilltopper, other teams know that, so they don't have to guard Cubes or Jimmy on the perimeter or Burke anywhere outside six inches. You'd almost like Jimmy to defy Buzz once and fire a 17-footer just to keep the defenses more honest.

+1. I think his 3 point average in jc was 43%. He needs to launch a few. When he does that, a whole new dimension to his game will open up, and defenders will have to adjust. But he's such a good rebounder, maybe Buzz wants him closer to the hoop
