Title: OT: Anyone know Joe Mero??
Post by: Fullodds on March 06, 2009, 02:18:57 PM
Way, way, way off-topic.

I am trying to locate a former MU student from Long Island who went to MU for one year...1984.  He was on the 9th floor at McCormick and left after his freshman year to move back east.  He was in the business school.  His name was Joe Mero and I just cannot seem to locate him despite prior efforts.  If anyone knows Joe's whereabouts, please send me a msg.  MU does not have any information on Joe as he was only at MU 1 year and he does not pop up on any reasonable search or on the alumni listings.

Sorry for the off-topic nature here....no "missing persons" board.  Thanks in advance.

This seems an odd way to look for an old classmate, Fullodds.

I know it is 2009 and we are well into the Internet age, but posting a guy's name, where he grew up and his college major -- without his knowing you are doing this -- seems questionable.

Right.  Not a good idea to give out info like this.  Creepy.  This board is about basketball and basketball related topics.

Creepy

Sorry if that sounded harsh above, but my friends and i had a stalker that some of us had to go to the police about.  He would get information from people by instant messaging them with different screen names and all it takes is one person to mistakenly give out the info.

Im sure you are not a creepy person Fullodds, just isn't the best idea to give out info on the internet like that.

Ok then.

Just trying to buy an old friend a beer in NYC while I'm there for the BE tourney.

If you guys are really worried about the release of personal information on the web you should take a look at MU's own alumni board.  If Joe had graduated from MU I would be able to find him in a second like many, many MU alums have since the MU Connect site was created.  I posted a name and very generalize information as a last chance effort to help locate the guy before the tourney.  I apologized for the off-topic nature of the post and indicated that it was way, way, way off-topic.  Long Island?  One year at MU business school?  Hardly top secret information or an invasion of privacy.

Uhhh I don't see a problem. Giving a name and college attended really doesn't create a problem. It's not like he gave the guy's phone number or address.

Don't worry fullodds, Mu Avenue is just looking out for himself and his belief in right and wrong.    ::)

1st person I've ignored on both boards.

If a person ignores another person and the person being ignored does not know it. ...

It seems odd, Erin Andrews' Thong, that you take a swipe at someone for "looking out for himself and his belief in right and wrong."

I am not sure what to make of your comment. Was it meant as a criticism?

It is funny that others here agree that this seems an odd -- creepy? -- place and way to search for a classmate from 25 years ago.

If you disagree, that is fine.

I respect your opinion, even if it comes from a man who has named himself after a sports reporter's thong underwear.

Thanks!  I actually think that I found him in the NY area.  I appreciate your help.

Actually, if you are looking to find a former MU student who loved basketball, especially BE basketball well before MU was in the BE, this seemed like the perfect place to try to find him.

Not that there is anything wrong with that.
