I understood that he wanted to let this senior-laden team play through the tough times against lesser Big East opponents. I could even understand it when DJames was our point guard. But, at Pitt, up by 5 in the second half with the other team making a run . . . why not take a time out?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!
He has to call those timeouts when on the road to get the crowd out of it. I don't understand why he doesn't. It's so frustrating.
It is poor coaching, plain and simple.
Buzz has done a great job all around, but the time-out issue needs to be fixed, especially when on the road. Ridiculous.
very frustrating. 18-0 run. our defense disappeared. >:(
pitt was absolutely on fire though, freakin nobodys were banging threes like nothing

which is why you call a time out.
I'm tired of him waiting for the TV time outs. Frustrating. Not that MU would be winning, but it would have at least took the crowd out of it and slowed the game down a little. Our guys were dribbling all over, passing around the arc, and then taking a bad 3. Unacceptable
Really? You wish he would have called a timeout? When? Like...the fifty f-ing times he had a chance in the second half to get better control of the game and rest his guys? Pathetic job by Buzz tonight. Sorry, but he was awful tonight.
And then when he did finally get a timeout . . . we ran a nice set play off the inbounds and 'Zar hit a three.
I think Buzz is a good motivator, good recruiter, seems to write up decent game plans, but I also think he is a lousy in-game coach thus far. He does not seem to realize when to take a time out. It has seriously hurt Marquette in its last three games. And he can only look at the refs with a smile after fouls that go against MU for so long. He has no clue how to work the refs. Hopefully he learns and does not allow opponents to go on big runs in the post season.
I still like Buzz, I just hope this is not an issue in a couple years.
I can already picture Buzz's response to not calling timeouts next season:
"We are a young team and they need to learn to toughen up and play through adversity."
Buzz is still a young coach. He'll learn to work the refs and use the timeouts. (I hope?!?!) :-\ ?-(
