EA offering stand-alone March Madness game

Last year, we did our own March Madness simulation between NCAA 08 March Madness and College Hoops 2K8. We spent an hour or so entering every team in the bracket the both games the night of the announcement only to find out there would be an update.

This time around, EA Sports is releasing something better. It's launching a stand-alone downloadable game called NCAA Baksetball 09: March Madness Edition so that fans can get a chance to play as their favorite team in the tournament.

The download will be available March 11, and in the beginning, it will sport teams from last year's tournament. But on March 18, the brackets will be updated with the real 65 teams from Selection Sunday. I'm hoping my Missouri Tigers will be there.

It's a pretty good deal given the price tag: The game is 1200 Microsoft points (that's $15 in real world money). And yep folks, this is an Xbox Live exclusive.

EDIT: A side note...they have the "1977 Marquette GOLDEN EAGLES" in a Legends Tourney vs 2006 UNC Tar Heels. Ugh. What a travesty.

The logo the real game uses for the 1977 team is the Marquette Hall logo.

At least '77 is in there.  I wonder how many UCLA/UNC matchups will be in the legends tourney.

Saw this yesterday and was all about it until I read that they stripped out online play. No Live = No buy

I only bothered to read this thread because I thought it was going to be about Erin Andrews.
