Title: My greatest fear....
Post by: MR.HAYWARD on March 01, 2009, 01:29:40 PM
Was Jerel would see the Dominic injury as the team now needing him to become Superman.  He needs to play within himself...11 three attempts is way too many, how many layups did he miss?  Not necessarily bad shots but my fear is he would feal the weight on his shoulders and it appeared he did today.  Myabe most importantly when Jerel's offense is not going this year his defense suffers and his defense was poor today.

Unless he makes half of them as he typically does. Many of the misses were wide open looks. he just missed 'em. If he makes them...

I agree with the Superman theory, but I suspect he will get that out of his system. As I said earlier, they have one more game they will probably/should lose to work the kinks out. I am much more optimistic after this one. Still can finish in the top 4 and have a decent March.

Really just a god-awful game from McNeal.  Too many bad shots and turn-overs.  I will admit, he should probably make a few more of those open looks, but today, he was flat out BAD.  Had to get better games from him and Wes, and just didn't get them.  Also, it would be great if Hayward could get going earlier into the game, like before the 3-min in the 2nd half part of the game.

One less option for scoring leads to the remaining guys forcing some shots. here and there  McNeal missed some wide open threes, but Louisville is a darned good defensive team and they did a very good job altering shots on the drive.  My only complaint in this game is that both Matthews and McNeal took a couple ill-advised shots early in the shot clock.

Lousiville is ranked number 6 because they play great defense, not because of their ability to put the ball in the hoop.

Buzz needs to chew his ear off...then Wes needs to chew his ear off...then his buddy Mo needs to chew his ear off...finally DJ needs to chew his ear off.

Then I think Jerel will be straight.

He was this wild with DJ, but like someone said in the Chat, maybe DJ kept him in check with ball-control and allowed Jerel to move without the ball.

I guess this is a question I have...will we play a team of Louiville's calibur (especially on D) in the first or second rounds of the tournament?  We played them very well at their place, without our PG, and our best 2 players playing a terrible game...I still am optimistic.

I absolutely agree...one poster in another string asked how far can this team go, well after our last two games even though they were losses I think we can go very far

Perhaps Dom's presence on the bench from here on out will make a difference.  While he won't be on the court, his leadership in the huddle certainly couldn't hurt.
