Terrence Boyd, a consensus top 75 shooting guard in the class of 2009 is headed to Western Kentucky. MU was involved with him late in the summer through early January but didn't make Boyd's final 5.

Some of you may recall his name in a discussion we had last year regarding the effect of message boards on recruiting. For a time, Boyd was one of Kentucky's top targets, and they were by far his leader. He visited there and upon his return home was ready to call Billy Gillespie and commit the Wildcats. But then he heard that the posters on the Kentucky message boards were ripping him, so he checked out Cat's Pause and KSR to see what they were saying about him. Once he did and confirmed what they were saying, he decided not to verbal to UK, and his recruiting stayed open.
Just goes to show, for all you who say these boards have no effect. Recruits, players, parents, friends, coaches etc are reading them. Be careful about what you say, because it can effect the program in a negative way.
That may be how it happened, but, if a recruit decides to reject any school because of it's posters, especially picking a mid major over an SEC school with the history of KY, well there's not much you can say except that either there must have been other factors involved or the kid is just not thinking straight.
Meanwhile, you think Iman Shumpert is regretting his choice of Georgia Tech, which is 1-12 and will never win more than four ACC games in any of his years at the school?
Unless he went there to get his engineering degree, yes.

His picking WKU had a lot to do with his AAU program, which is why chose them over Oregon State, UConn and Pitt. But his involvement with Kentucky was pretty much ended when he saw the fans reaction to his visit and decided he didn't want to play in front of fans like that.
Kids make decisions for all sorts of different reasons a lot of which have nothing to do with basketball. Things like campus setting, nightlife, fan support, even school uniform colors have played a role before.
Agreed, kids do the darndest things. But to pick a mid major over KY, Pitt or UConn, sounds to me like he didn't have the confidence to play in the big time.
Is this a joke, sounds like a ridiculous urban legend...if he chose w kentucky over kentucky because of some posters then I personally wouldn't want the weak sauce on my favorite squad.
As or Shumpert, I doubt he cares....he's getting minutes and lots of shots, he strikes me as a guy who's main focus is the NBA and could care less about winning.
I cannot help myself: It is my pet peeve, and no offense intended, but my one man fight to eradicate the illogical phrase must go on --------> The phrase is "I could NOT care less"! Please think about it.
