32-30 UConn...a lot closer than I'd expect it to be.

I am feeling physically ill.

All because I want Notre Dame to win today.

Is this crap.  Thabeet can shoot these free throws.  He's not injured.

I hate you Calhoun.

Is it just me, or is Thabeet SOFT? A hell of a college basketball player, but "tough" is not the first word that comes to mind.

I wouldn't say he's soft.  It was an acting job.  He was fine the second he sat on the bench.  Calhoun just wanted a better free-throw shooter at the line.

Brey was pissed.

I can't wait though until Thabeet meets the Big Cactus!  :)

Notre Dame really got screwed.  Thabeet was fouled, but he dove like an Italian soccer player to the floor and was too "injured" to shoot the free throws.  He went back in after Austry made both free throws, and missed ONE defensive possession.

Wish UConn would have shot today like they did against us.

I believe that's because the rule says you must miss at least one defensive possession.  Otherwise he would have been in for that possession.

what's to stop a poor foul shooter from pulling the "I'm hurt" bit whenever free throws are needed?

I think he was back in in 12 seconds off the game clock...even with a timeout, that wouldn't be time for a trainer to evaluate him.  Great move by Coach Cal.  You could tell they practiced that.  Thabeet learned some acting moves from the guy he was guarding today.

I guess the NCAA could change the rule to say something like--in the last two minutes of a game, if a shooter is subbed out for a replacement, he is out unless game goes into OT....or a penalty like dock the team a time out or switch the jump arrow.

How about letting the opposing coach pick the player to shoot the free throws?
