Marquette a 4 seed.

ACC (8 teams)
Big East (7 Teams)
Big Ten (7 teams)

It appears Penn State and Michigan beat out Cinci and Providence for the final 2 spots.

Hmmmm

Yeah, absolutely ridiculous Providence is not in...vs. Penn State?!?  C'mon, now, Lunardi.

So what, they beat #1 Pitt, who according to the Providence fans, is overrated.  Penn State held offensive juggarnaut Illinois to 33 points, so obviously they are a much better defensive team and therefore more deserving.

Or is it that Illinois can be an offensively inept team?

I guess that ALSO goes for Penn State!

Yeah, Illinois and all 33 of their points are a 4 seed.  Sorry, but Lunardi seems to be way off his game this year.

Yeah, that is an absolute laugh out loud joke, Illinois at 4.  If they're a 4, I like the 4-12 upset right there, folks.

Not to nit, but I think it would be 4 vs 13.

And it looks like Minnesota is the first team out, so they're likely in before Providence and Cincy.  I don't get it.  I think MSU and Purdue are good, not great.  Then IL is OK - should be no lower than a 6 seed.  And the rest are avg teams that will be very fortunate to win 1 game in the tournament.

Wow, a loss at home to a potential No. 1 team when our point guard goes down in the first four minutes means we are now on the level of Illinois according to Lunardi. He's about as off on this as he is on wearing a turtleneck/blazer combo on his ESPN appearances.

seriously, who does he think he is, mike brey?

honestly, though, i would be thrilled if we end up with a 4 seed in the tourney at this point.  we may still even end up in minnesota for the opening weekend.

Yeah, my bad...was thinking about the weird "5-12 upset" every year thing.  Getting back to the main point, though, Illinois is awful, and should be more of an 8 than a 4.

FWIW ... the Rivals guy has MU as a four seed going in the first round against, it would appear by his rankings, Virginia Commonwealth.

Big East = 8 teams
Big Televen = 7 teams
ACC = 7 teams

I didn't realize that Joe picked the field of 64 this early in Feb.  Who cares?

Joe picks the field of 65 starting in December so people can get together on the internets and argue for 3 months while driving up traffic the espn.com.  Everyone wins.

Wasn't Lunardi correct on all 64 last year?

Before conference play started, we had nine teams in the top 15.  Now, after beating up on each other, can only get 7 in the tourney?  And the JV conference of the Big 10 gets 7?

And once again, we are in the West bracket, playing on the coast out in Portland. Hasn't MU been in the West bracket three straight years now?
