Title: Bench and depth now...
Post by: tower912 on February 25, 2009, 08:09:45 PM
I predict Jerel gets some time at the point, Mo and Cubillan get more minutes, and we see the long awaited emergence of Fulce for a few minutes at a time.

How about my man JB at the point?  He can do it all right now!

If so, why didn't they play tonight?  At home?

Because Buzz is going to have to set up his rotation differently with 40 more minutes available.

Being forced to play people is something entirely different.  We have not had to play the extra guys as of yet.  We will now, so let's get them in and get them ready for the tourneys.  We may not win another game but we will gain needed experience, even if it is in the short term.

How about starting Jimmy Butler, playing 'rel at the point, using Cubi, Mo, and Hazel off of the bench?    Just brainstorming at this point......

I like this idea.  Not a fan of Acker at all.  Doesn't initiate offense at the point and subpar defense.

Crazy not to throw some size out there if even for a minute to throw them off.
And AL would have given the guys a "blow"  fatigue at the end showed

Remember that bench players often play the role of the upcoming opposition in practices.  As a result, when they do get in the games, they are often not up to speed with the other guys.  Once Acker gets time in practice as the starting PG, he may seem a little more settled.  Give him a chance.  Louisville will be tough, but I think he'll improve with each upcoming game to a point.  He's not a top BE PG, but roadworthy with a lot of heart if nothing else!
