Holy Crap. When the students rushed the court and met at the half I started having visions of Braveheart. Clash of bodies...not sure I would have wanted to be a player in the middle of that.
Congrats to Providence.
I just posted this on another thread but please act like you expected it. Storming the court is ridiculous.
Glad the beefed up security was added at The Dunkin
I pray MU fans don't storm the court tomorrow night. Sheesh.
Nor should we. Big game? Yes. But is winning and getting games like this becoming par for the course with this program? Absolutely.
MAYBE if they win the conference you let it go. Outside of that, we've been there before, and we'll be there again.
And frankly I did not mind Providence rushing the court. It was a great win for them. In fact, it looked like a lot of fun! I just don't want us to do it. I still think we can win this thing (the BEAST that is).
Are you guys really coming down on them for rushing the court?!?!?
Coming into the game, they were desparate for a quality win on their resume. All they just beat the number 1 ranked team, on senior night. If ever there is a time to rush the court, I think that was it.
Regarding MU students...as I remember, it is damn near impossible for MU students to rush the court. There is usually a pretty heavy security presence around the student section as the game comes to an end.
Marquette will defiantly storm the court tomorrow IF WE WIN. But please someone tell me when the last time was Marquette in the top 10 playing a top 10 team in at the BC

1) With the security and barriers put up it's impossible to storm the court.
2) Mostly because of 1, we didn't storm the court as an unrated heavy underdog against #2 Uconn in our first Big East game ever. Why would we do it tomorrow?
It will not happen tomorrow, but I hope they will let us if we win the conference.
The Marquette student section is hard to rush the court from because there is such a small area to go and none of the fans will be coming from the sideline.

Hey genius...remember the 06 game...#2 UConn vs. unranked MU...didn't rush the court then, DEFINITELY wouldn't rush the court tomorrow. We expect to win!

yeah i want to bet. I am current student and i plan on being there in the lower level and me and a bunch of my friends are going to be waiting in line outside the BC very early. and we all plan on storming the court if we win. they might have security down near the court, but we will definitely make an attempt.
I think the only way to successfully storm the court would be for the students to go out to the main concourse and come back in in the middle aisles and then jump the scorers table. There are a boatload of security waiting under both hoops. If accurately planned with students planning to run down the center of the court it can be done. ;)

I will take a piece of this action...you wont get anywhere near the court.

I certainly hope not. The only event worthy of rushing the court would be if a win over Cuse locks up the BE title for us.
The only time I remember the court being stormed was winning the C-USA title (Cincy I believe). Was security much different during the year than it is now?

Correct.
Students had to go around the barriers, but security stepped aside.
Nope, last time students rushed the court was after Dameon Mason's winning free throw at the end of regulation (I believe that's how it ended) against Louisville (or was it Cincy ...) in Spring of 2004.

Warrior is correct.
I have been at the last two court rushings and have been at games that may have warranted it like Novak's UConn game, and I can tell you it WILL NOT HAPPEN.
Since 2004, MU has stepped up the security by multiples. Cincy was an easy rush, security was prepared to make sure nobody got hurt. The Louisville rush was not expected and security was not present. This caused he security to be beefed up and the presence of the metal barriers.

How the hell did Mr. Hayward get hilltoppers' log-in? 8-)
we shouldnt even rush the court tomorrow, we are a top 10 team...
ps did anyone see 13th ranked ASU rush the court after beating unranked Arizona, i dont care if its a rivalry game, stupid...
teams that are ranked should not rush the court, plain and simple
teams that have won multiple national championships should never rush the court (ie duke, north carolina)

True, but I was at that game. That game was during winter break and the turnout was weak at best. That would've been a pathetic rush of the court

+1. I'll put money on you not getting within 5 feet of the court much less on it.
Enough about us. I bet you all talk about no-hitters too...
That was a great court-storming by PC. A tad early, but cool to see.
Were there 1500 people calling TO?
I was totally OK with the Providence fans rushing the court. They were unranked and beat the #1 team in the country for the second time in their program's history. I think it was warranted.
I don't think it's warranted against UCONN b/c UCONN is only #2 and we are also a top 10 team.
we wont storm the court anytime soon, NBA arena, simply wont happen.
They'll let us do it against Syracuse if we clinch conference. That's the only way. That's the way it should be. Seats instead of bleachers make it impossible for a good surge to push past security.

sorry for stating the obvious here, but whats stopping the lower bowl from rushing the court? say security all you want, but ushers and police are outnumbered 100:1, in the student section. should students rush the court tomorrow after a win? absolutely not. but if a motivated student section is determined to do it, nothing can stop them.

Except the students are all funneled into a small area, you can be a tough guy and say you have them outnumbered, but this isn't their first rodeo.

Providence beating the No. 1 team in the country is one of the rare examples where it is totally OK to rush the court. If you can't do it then, when would you do it? It's a major upset that will do wonders for their chances of sneaking into the NCAA's.
Be happy for those kids. They'll always remember that night.

My only problem with PC's storm is that it was about 2 seconds early. So -1 to them for not waiting for an official end and -100 to the Dunkin Donuts security for still being ineffectual at best.
