When Doug Gottlieb was asked what team off the radar could surprise and make it to Detroit and the Final Four, guess where he went . . .
We are . . . Marquette.
From his lips.
Go Warriors. Crush Pirates.
Nice of him to say, but....21-4, ranked as high as 8th and we are still off the radar? Sometimes I miss TC's endless program promotion......(yes, some of it was self-promotion, but still)
They were discussing teams not on the radar for number 1 seeds right now.
He said Oklahoma as one of his off the radar teams as well and they are 2
You can look at it the other way. He will be surprised if we get there.
I don't see how this is such an obvious thing. I would say MU has to be a legitimate elite 8 team and have possible consideration for a final 4 appearance.
You have to understand, people are expecting UCONN, Duke, NC, Louisville, PIT, Oklahoma to all be common favorites to the final 4. MU is in that "second crop," with teams like Wake Forest, Memphis, etc.
Sure, they've got a better chance than a lot of other teams out there to make the Final 4, but I would say they're off the radar.
I think MU will go to the final 4 and in doing so they will definitely surprise a lot of people. 2 weeks ago we're "overrated." A loss to USF and we're officially not being talked about at all except for these "off the radar" comments. I would have to agree with Gottlieb

It's really too bad that none of the talking heads went into the vault and pointed out that MU lost at East Carolina in 2003.

Pundits doing actual research while working for the 4 letter network, that's downright logical!
