Villanova  just gave up 84 and won by 18.

Maybe in the bigger picture it was a subtle way of asking what's happened to our defense this year.

Sorry, but my small brain missed the subtlety. Mockery, yes. Subtle, big picture analysis? No.

It's called a short bench and a lack of size. Lazare plays matador defense as a center  because we can't afford to have him foul out.

The bench "shortness" is a coaching decision IMO.

We are "short" on the bench for 3 reasons.
1. Crean left, costing us Taylor and Williams. Taylor would have been our first backcourt man off the bench and Williams would have been serviceable.
2.Crean never could recruit bigs, so our experienced starting and backup middlemen (Burke and Hazel) are woefully inadequate. When your starter is a borderline 5-10 mpg backup guy, you're really out on a limb when you go to the bench.
3.Injuries to Fulce and O'Tule have made them non factors.

You put "shortness" in quotes to imply that Buzz has weapons that he chooses not to use. MU has 4 BEast caliber players right now and they are starters. Our bench is very weak - remember Rutgers?
