Tonight Was USF's first win against a top 10 team in their history.
Seven years ago tonight MU lost to East Carolina, their highest win against a ranked team in their history as well.
Seven years ago we were a final four team.
Moral ... Stop scheduling games on February 6th!!!!!
That's actually pretty freaky, and maybe a good omen.

I believe we lost to ECU in 02 and 03.
I hope this post puts some perspective on the loss. The BE is tough no doubt!! But I know someone predicted that our first loss would set off some kind of Armageddon. We will be fine. Maybe we won't win conference but the team will almost lock up a 1-4 seed with a win against Nova. No way we shoot this bad again.
I was thinking the exact same thing...however, C-USA was a joke, compared to what we have left on our Big East schedule.
We just gave a GIFT to UCONN, L'ville, Pitt, and Nova for that matter.
I wonder if the crazy "sky is falling" posters came out in droves after that loss, too.

Ah come on, don't wreck a great story with the facts.
:)
The year we went to the Final Four (the 2002-03 season), we crushed East Carolina, 80-48.

The year before, (seven years ago) we did lose to East Carolina on Feb. 6.

Posters might have claimed the sky was falling after that loss, and maybe even saying that team would lose in the first of the tournament. They would've been correct, as we lost to Holy Cross 71-69 that March.
We crushed them at home, but lost out there in January. If I remember right we lost there after losing to Dayton.
We did lose at EC on Dec. 30, and then lost our next game at Dayton on Jan. 4. Our only loss between Jan. 4 and the C-USA tourney was to #2 Louisville.
I'm not saying the sky is falling, but there's a difference, imo, between the Final Four '03 team losing two games to lesser opponents in late December/Early January and this current team dropping a game against USF in the middle of Conference play.
The loss at East Carolina the final four year was the first thing I thought about when it became apparent that MU couldn't hit a jumper, free throw, or seem to get the usual 50-50 balls they usually get. They played poorly and looked out of character. Any team can have a bad loss at any time in the regular season and still have a great run in the post season. Bad game, but still can be a great season this year. I believe when we look at this loss at the end of the year, it really won't be that significant. Anyways, I blame all the posters who were looking ahead to the Villanova game for this loss!

It was Tulsa we lost to not Holy Cross.
