OK, so I have been paying attention to recruiting for almost a year. Is it too early to fill up the commit list for 2010? We are still recruiting for 2009. We don't know where these guys stack up. How often does top talent commit this early? Do you think it would be nice to get a tourney run and use that momentum to get 5 star talent? Seems early from my minimum exposure, that's all. Anyone feel free to comment.
BTW... I was just looking at top 150 for 2010 from Rivals and we are not even on the map (as far as players recruited and players interested in Marquette). Whats the deal?
Don't read too much into the top 150 lists, those numbers are fluid and some will change dramatically during the summer.

OK, so aren't we taking a risk by committing guys so early that they haven't even gotten much attention from other schools or these recruiting ratings?

We aren't taking a risk. Buzz and his staff have evaluated the 2010 players they have offered. The don't watch ESPN's TOP 150.

+1
I have a lot more faith in the recruiting ability of this staff than any numbers rivals, scout, or espn put up now. They will bring in good kids that want to work hard and that they think can play at the level where MU want to be.
Also keep in mind that next year's class (2009) is loaded (Jeromme, Jr, EK, Roseboro and Bucks). Rivals, scouts, ESPN all have these guys highly rated. They have the class highly rated.
The hardest thing is the world is to recruit the year after a good class. Look at our current Junior class, only Hayward (and maybe Acker) and Hayward doesn't play a position occupied by the three amigos.
Too follow up the 2009 class with Bowen and now Clark is nice achievement.
Too put it another way, only Duke, UCLA and UNC will follow up a potential top 10 class with another top 10 class.
Also check out Illinois Basketball recruiting for the next 2 years:
2009 Class (http://illinois.scout.com/a.z?s=169&p=9&c=4&cfg=bb&yr=2009)
2010 Class (http://illinois.scout.com/a.z?s=169&p=9&c=4&cfg=bb&yr=2010)
Already have a ton of commits (albeit quality types and "already on the map" kinds of players). So as long as the teams do their homework, they're fine.
