On college basketball final on ESPN at 12:15, there will be a segment on MU as a national contender.
damn, just missed it. TT- do you have a clip of it?
all i could find on Espn.com was the game recap: http://espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=290340305 and the commentator sounds like Dana Carvey as Garth Algar
They compared McNeal's BE stats with Wade's last year. McNeal averaging 4 more points a game at a better percentage.....averaging pretty much the same on rebounds, assists, and steals. Needless to say, they are very impressed.
FYI...This is being re-aired all morning on ESPNU.
They said Marquette was an over achieving team. Is MU overachieving?
We are over achieving pre-season expectations.

This is my pet peeve of sports cliches. It's illogical. Overacheiving implies that we're playing better than we are able to play. That doesn't make sense. If we have been winning these games, then it is clearly possible for us to play at this level, and saying that we are playing better that we are able is a complete contradiction. The implication that comes from this, though, is that any time we're not playing at this level we are underachieving. I guess I am ok with saying that. This team is talented and SHOULD be playing with this kind of drive and intensity.

I think overachieving in this case simply means surpassing expectations. This team is doing that, no?
