I really think he will be special by the time he leaves Marquette. It just seems that every game he does a little more. He seems bought in and ready to bring in. I am very impressed.
I can see the improvement game-by-game. Too bad Fulce and Otule got hurt.
I totally agree with you. His confidence seems to grow with each game he plays... and he can shoot free throws ;)
Gotta love the kid. Comes in every night and hustles, guards players 3-5 inches taller than he is, and rebounds.
Always seems to be in the right place to snag an offensive board.
Like him, but I don't think he'll be anything more then a sixth man....
I'm very excited to see him on the court with Williams and Maymon next year when he is able to play the 2 which he excelled at so much in JC.
Even this year, when he has been pressed into duty against some of the bigger guys, he has shown that he is very servicable.
I completely agree.. he's really starting to impress me with his growth. I can just see the confidence accumulating every game. Definitely going to be an asset come tourney time.
He's a great complimentary player on this squad. The key will be how is he in one, two seasons. Kind of like Todd Townshend. He was great as an energy guy as a soph, but he never got better.
But...regarding this year. Yeah, he's getting better and better by the game.
Butler has really developed nicely.
He will start next year. The newcomers have to learn defense before they get to play.
Who knows what the future holds for him......what we do know is he is a solid contributor right now. Keep up the good work Jimmy!
Butler comes in off the bench with as much energy as anyone. He drives to the basket w/o hesitation and shows signs of being a great spot-up shooter. He always seems to get into the right spot for the OR and thats such a huge value for this team, that may struggle to get offensive boards against bigger Big East opp near the end of the season. These guys need to get as many reps against USF as possible
We'll know how much he has improved when he plays against the better frontlines(in particular those SF/PF positions) of the BE like Clark/ Williams from Ville, Blair/Young from Pitt, Adrien/Robinson from UCONN, Paul Harris from Cuse. It's always tougher to score and rebound around those longer and more athletic guys like we'll see more of in the 2nd half of the conference season.

Sure will see what he has in his few mins against the big dogs.. I'm more interested how the TEAM performs.
The best thing for me, is that he seems to be improving and getting more assertive each game. And he seems to know his role...off the bench, give us some good minutes and get some hustle points, rebounds, and make FTs.
I thought he played a really nice game yesterday and he really looks like an athlete. At this point though its hard to tell how well he'll play next year as it will determined by how consistently he can hit a 12-15 ft shot. He doesn't take many of those probably b/c there are better options. But he's playing a good role for the team right now.
Butler knows his role and Buzz knows when to use him and when not to. A recipe for success. Heaven forbid if one of the big four went down, then Butler would quickly be exposed on defense.

What were his 3pt numbers in Juco?
I picked him as the surprise player on this team back in October. I also wrote that he would win us a conference game with a performance out of nowhere. I still believe that will happen.
It would be nice, in games against the likes of DPU, USF, Seton Hall, St. John's, if he took a jumpshot. If for no other reason then shits and giggles.
A quick question: Who was rated higher coming out of JC, Fulce or Butler? Thanks!
Fulce was I believe second team and butler was third team. 10 men on a team. When fulce playes you can see he has talent, but he makes mistakes on defense. Buzz seems to have a low tolerence for people who cannot play defense.
Thanks! I'm interested to see what Fulce can do if/when he's fully recovered! It's nice to think that with the recruiting class coming in and these two we should have great depth! With the last schollie for 2010 we have to go PG.
