Title: Still need a 4!!
Post by: State on January 15, 2007, 09:20:29 PM
Crean has given everyone a shot at the starting role at the 4.  Tonight was Fitz's turn (31 minutes of PT).

Tonight's line for our 3 man rotation at the 4 (Burke, Hayward, Fitz):

47 minutes
3-7 shooting for 8 points
7 total rebounds
0 assist
4 fouls
0 steals
0 blocks

Pretty weak...however, can't complain too much when Barro and Co. have been averaging double digits in conference play.

Just worried if Barro gets locked down by Gray or Russel who is going to pick up the slack??

Any thoughts??

it was good enough to win tonight..and Fitz did have a nice sequence in that uneven first half when he hit the open three and then had a three-point-play the hard way.

nice win

"good enough to win" Those were the days when we felt a UL game was our superbowl

Actually I thought it was one of the best games our "4's" combined for all season.  If nothing else it was Fitzpatrick's best.  We were lost against the full court pressure with Lazar in there.  Fitz coming back immediately took care of that situation.  Fitz palyed excellent defense and rebounded the ball.  He also looked to take the open shot and two of his threes were half way down before coming back out.  Great great game by Fitz, if he plays like that the rest of the season we will be that much better.

agreed, Fitz was key......his ability to handle the ball gave MU a four-guard offense for the most part -- exactly what you need to diffuse the Ville defensive pressure.  And his spurt in the first half gave MU the lead it never coughed up.  Two effective games in a row for Dan. Nice to see

agreed.  I believe TC has finally allowed Fitz to find a 'home'.  Constant changing around and playing out of your natural position precludes playing your best ball.

Maybe a couple more good games from Fitzpatrick, and people will start to get his name right.  ;D ;)
