Marquette & Georgetown To Participate In Coaches Vs. Cancer Awareness Weekend
Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers awareness weekend, a collaborative initiative of the National Association of Basketball Coaches and the American Cancer Society, is slated for the weekend of Jan. 30-Feb. 1.
Participating NABC-member college men's basketball coaches, including coach Williams and the Marquette staff, will wear sneakers instead of dress shoes with their usual game attire during Saturday's contest against Georgetown to demonstrate their support for the American Cancer Society and the fight against cancer.
The Georgetown coaching staff will also participate.
Marquette's staff will be wearing the Converse Pro Leather Ox, which made its debut in 1976.
Coaches vs. Cancer is a nationwide program founded by the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) that empowers basketball coaches, their teams and communities to join the fight against cancer by participating in a variety of nation and local community events.
Since its inception in 1993, high school and college coaches and their wives across the country have raised nearly $45 million through the Coaches vs. Cancer program to help the Society fund groundbreaking cancer research, provide up-to-date cancer information and education, advocate for public health policies that benefit the community and provide free programs that improve the quality of life for patients and their families.

Awesome!
Remember when Crean didn't wear sneakers? What a douche.
I know I know, he did more than people will thank him for, but he's still a douche. Period.

He wore sneakers this to event, they were usually black, much like many other coaches did. But yes, he wore the sneakers.

He didn't one time...and I don't know of any other Wear Sneakers for Awareness-themed things there are, but it was maybe our senior class' freshman or sophomore year that Crean did NOT wear sneakers...they even did a close up on his feet, but he was wearing brown leather shoes, and I think it was in a loss to Georgetown.

Is this the game you're talking about?

Okay, I just made myself look like an ass. Good lookin' out.
Nonetheless, the Converse's will look nice, as long as they aren't black. Black sneakers...weak. Can't even tell. That's like a dude wearing pink underwear (provided he isn't just in his underwear and his pants are sagging) to raise awareness for breast cancer.
Make it obvious!
Yeah but Crean's sneakers weren't sneakery enough. What a dick. Al would have worn the sneakeriest sneakers and a crazy sneaker tie. Hell, even Deane and O'neill would have worn better sneakers than Crean.
On Saturday Buzz will wear Crean's old sneakers but he is gonna sneaker the sh*t out of them like Crean never could.
I think Crean thought he got his sneakers as sneakery as he could at MU but Buzz will prove to that douche that he can rock some awesome sneakers at MU and Crean will regret the day he traded his sneakers in for some weak ass IU sneaks.
I really hope the teal wasn't necessary, but you never know with this crowd.
Actually MUSF, Crean's sneakers were TOO sneaky, cuz I mean...you couldn't tell.
Pretty sneaky, so that douche actually out-sneaked everyone else!

Weak or not, he wore them. And many other coaches during the years also wore black sneakers....many prominent ones like Thad Matta, Huggins, Howland, etc.
I think it's safe to say Crean has done probably more than anyone on this board for cancer when you factor in Children's Hospital

Hell, to some people, he cured it.

Billy Donovan....black sneakers
Dennis Felton...black and red shoes
Tom Crean....black sneakers
Bob Huggins...black sneakers
Thad Matta....black sneakers...from the article..."And Ohio State's Thad Matta wore black sneakers almost fit for a wedding."
Etc, etc
I agree it doesn't stand out as much, but he definitely wore them
I'm sure Bo wore sneakers, too...which he got for free as part of Moscow West's free sneakers giveaway. :)
I noticed Bruce Weber had on some shiny white sneakers last night, while watching his team score 36 points against Minnesota.

Maybe he was thinking about putting himself in, lord knows they could have used some scoring.

he had heard that his buddy Bo was feeling bad about his 5 game losing streak and wanted to take some pressure off. ?-(
watching that game last night was painful, and reminded me of games against SLU early this decade. The score always seemed to be in the 40s.
I believe, if memory serves me correctly, they held Wade to his lowest totals in a couple of those games.
I think those are 2 of the better(3&4) teams in the Big Ten, and supposedly the Big Ten is stronger than the Big East...
Sorry, way off topic. Go Buzz, beat Cancer!

Pretty sure he was sarcastically pointing out how some delusional Badger fans think the B10 is better than the BEast this year. You can have some of what they're smoking.
On to the topic at hand, I can't wait to see Buzz rock some sneaks with his usual striped shirt/striped suit/paisley tie combo.

I am not smoking anything... I should have started my post by stating these are not my opinions, or put my message in teal. I didn't, and for that I apologize.
But... I have seen on more than one site, conference rankings showing that the BEAST is 3rd behind the ACC and Big Ten.
