Title: Big East tonight
Post by: DoubleMU0609 on January 28, 2009, 06:41:40 PM
Watching the scoreboards in class tonight, it looks like there are some good games going on.

South Florida tied with the 'Ville with 3 min left in 1st half.

Nova down 1 against Pitt with 3 min left in the 1st half.

I wish I were in a sports bar with 2 big screens right now...

edit: Providence up 2 on 'Cuse right now too...

PC needs a quality win, so does Nova, and both those wins would help MU in the standings...however, gotta cheer for Gtown tonight. I don't want to see another Big East power fall to the bubble. Plus, obviously, our game this weekend would mean more. Not that it wouldn't be big either way

Sharrod Curry is doing a good job.

Side note: Espn360 rocks for these games.

WVU is putting St. John's away. Up by 17.

Louisville is on a decent run, they should put away USF at this point.

Blair: 2pts 4 fouls.   Get him in foul trouble and Pitt is quite beatable

I assume they waited until after the game instead of during free throws?

Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but I think DePaul gives UConn a game tonight.

No, Johnathan Xavier wasn't able to make it for the early celebration!

All of a sudden the critics are silent.  And waiting for us to lose a game to call us illegitimate isn't going to fly either.  The new question should be which BE team(s) that were locks are going to struggle to make it in, and it Providence legitimate?

#21 Nova has a win over #3 Pitt.  We're a game and a half better and have beaten Nova (though the game @Nova is looking much, much tougher).

Providence takes care of #15 Syracuse to move to 6-2 in conference (and on the NCAA bubble I would think).  Cuse is 5-4, we're 7-0; Cuse's best win is at home against ND.  There is no way they should be mentioned as more legitimate than us now.

Cincinnati giving Georgetown a run for their money as well.

As I said a couple nights ago, Louisville, Pitt, and maybe UConn are the only teams that can make the argument that they've done as much or more than us in conference play so far, and Pitt's now got 2 losses to their name.

Wow, talk about sad.  You're 6-2 in the Big East, Cuse is 5-4.  Show some pride in your program and act like you expected it.  That said, still a huge win for Providence and at least puts them on the bubble.  The home loss to Northeastern doesn't help, but they are the Colonial Atlantic favorites and the other five are against legitimate NCAA tournament teams, four on the road and just us at home.

Yeah I have seen this happen to him in two different games, and they lost both I believe.

The number 4 team in the country (and will be #2 next week) just had their court stormed after their game tonight...

I have no problem with Providence fans storming the court.  They just got the big win they needed and prove that they could make a run at the NCAA Tournament.

Guys, MU sucks.  We are so overrated.  We haven't beat anyone in this league. ;D

I see this more as a warning sign to us rather than an affirmation of how good we are. Our guys need to keep our heads on straight for every single game in this conference.

Their fans have been waiting for a win like this for a long, long time.
